Be Forest, Drink To Me, Furtherset. Ieri ha contribuito fortemente a caricare il pubblico creando un’atmosfera avvolgente, giocando un ruolo da protagonista della serata. Complice del successo del festival è senza dubbio la location, lo splendido parco della Golena San Massimo, uno tra i più suggestivi luoghi padovani e gioiello del patrimonio storico-artistico della città..

  • James Holden & the Animal Spirits Biography
james holden & the animal spirits biography The release of James Holden's long-anticipated second album The Inheritors in the summer of 2013 kicked off a bold new phase in the enduring British electronic guru's musical career. An epic 75 minute long English pagan saga, the immersive and idiosyncratic alternative electronic universe of The Inheritors was the product of Holden's late night studio jams on his modular synthesizer and custom hybrid analogue- digital machines. But with a recording process that had become so focused around the capturing of these private in-the-moment live performances, it was not long before the public act of travelling the world playing other people's records as part of Holden's international DJ career of over ten years standing began to feel increasingly out of step with his most recent studio explorations. The time had come to take the plunge with a live show all of his very own. London-born jazz-trained drummer Tom Page (of brotherly synth-and-drum improv duo Rocketnumbernine) was Holden’s first recruit, joining Holden and a portable incarnation of his modular synth in an improvised reimagining of tracks from The Inheritors, in answer to an impossible-to-turn-down invitation from Thom Yorke to support his Atoms For Peace supergroup on their North American arena tour in the Autumn of 2013. Then once back home on the European festival circuit, the improvisational flourishes of French saxophonist Etienne Jaumet (Zombie Zombie) - whose free-sax freak-out adorns Inheritors highlight The Caterpillar’s Intervention - were a welcome occasional addition to the newly-formed synth-and-drum duo’s continuing live adventures.

Piotr Mulawka Leksykon polskiej i światowej muzyki elektronicznej „Zrealizowano w ramach programu stypendialnego Ministra Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego-Kultura w sieci” Wydawca: Piotr Mulawka [email protected] © 2020 Wszelkie prawa zastrzeżone ISBN 978-83-943331-4-0 2 Przedmowa Muzyka elektroniczna narodziła się w latach 50-tych XX wieku, a do jej powstania przyczyniły się zdobycze techniki z końca XIX wieku m.in. telefon- pierwsze urządzenie służące do przesyłania dźwięków na odległość (Aleksander Graham Bell), fonograf- pierwsze urządzenie zapisujące dźwięk (Thomas Alv Edison 1877), gramofon (Emile Berliner 1887). Jak podają źródła, w 1948 roku francuski badacz, kompozytor, akustyk Pierre Schaeffer (1910-1995) nagrał za pomocą mikrofonu dźwięki naturalne m.in. (śpiew ptaków, hałas uliczny, rozmowy) i próbował je przekształcać. Tak powstała muzyka nazwana konkretną (fr. musigue concrete). W tym samym roku wyemitował w radiu „Koncert szumów”. Jego najważniejszą kompozycją okazał się utwór pt. „Symphonie pour un homme seul” z 1950 roku. W kolejnych latach muzykę konkretną łączono z muzyką tradycyjną. Oto pionierzy tego eksperymentu: John Cage i Yannis Xenakis. Muzyka konkretna pojawiła się w kompozycji Rogera Watersa. Utwór ten trafił na ścieżkę dźwiękową do filmu „The Body” (1970). Grupa Beaver and Krause wprowadziła muzykę konkretną do utworu „Walking Green Algae Blues” z albumu „In A Wild Sanctuary” (1970), a zespół Pink Floyd w „Animals” (1977). Pierwsze próby tworzenia muzyki elektronicznej miały miejsce w Darmstadt (w Niemczech) na Międzynarodowych Kursach Nowej Muzyki w 1950 roku. W 1951 roku powstało pierwsze studio muzyki elektronicznej przy Rozgłośni Radia Zachodnioniemieckiego w Kolonii (NWDR- Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk). Tu tworzyli: H. Eimert (Glockenspiel 1953), K. Stockhausen (Elektronische Studie I, II-1951-1954), H.

  • James Holden. Biography
james holden. biography. www.jamesholden.org www.bordercommunity.com dj bookings : [email protected] for further information please contact: [email protected] The wunderkind James Holden has finally come of age, and has delivered up the debut album to prove it: and about time too! For although the world seems strangely intent on fixing him in his early twenties (or more specifically, a series of internet sites who have seemingly overlooked the fact that biography ages require a yearly update!), the time has come to acknowledge that DJ and producer James Holden is not quite so young anymore. The timely release of Holden's 'The Idiots Are Winning' mini-album in 2006 marked the occasion, and formed a fitting musical illustration of Holden's new-found maturity. Still reluctant to bestow upon it the accolade of 'debut album', for Holden himself 'The Idiots Are Winning' remains an EP which grew out of control: take four dancefloor-length Holden tracks, mix in the obligatory DJ tools and alternative versions that he is so keen on, and an interlude or two for good measure, and you have far exceeded the single realm and are pushing into album territory. Not that the manner of its creation should affect the listening experience: Holden's intricate and inimitable production style ensures a coherence of atmosphere, where even DJ-friendly extended intros hold up to home-listening scrutiny. The Guardian went so far as to proclaim it "the most astonishing debut in electronic music since Boards of Canada's Music Has the Right to Children." And who are we to argue? The producer James Holden's journey to this point began back in 1999, aged just 19, when he burst onto the UK scene with the exuberant teenage trance hit 'Horizons'.

SINNER DC PRESSBOOK IN ENGLISH SINNER DC FUTURE THAT NEVER HAPPENED (2012) LABEL: MENTAL GROOVE RECORDS CLASH MAGAZINE: The result is something both overcast and kaleidoscopic. REDIDENT ADVISOR: The forthcoming album sees the three-piece employ the same dreamy, atmospheric textures they've spent the past decade putting to wax GROOVE ATTACK: Geneva-based hardly classifiable yet unmistakable SINNER DC return with a new album, and this welcome addition enriches their already extensive discography with another display of both the constant evolution and consistence in quality that the trio is known for. GET THE CURSE: Heartfelt tracks, cold and spacy but not without a sensitivity which I’m going to call ‘alpine’... this is music to listen to on the top of a glacier. THE MILK FACTORY: SINNER DC continuously distil hypnotic grooves, hazy backdrops, guitars in various states of decomposition and processing, and ethereal vocals which are there almost more for textural purpose than to occupy any concrete role, adding to the overall moody aspect of the album. Future… flows effortlessly from one end to the other, the trio consciously keeping to a particular tone throughout, whether through upbeat pieces (TC, Statues, Day/Night, Futures, The Horizon) or more atmospheric compositions (Hey Girl, Dreamliner, Where She Goes). The melodies are often haunting and are articulated around few key motifs for each songs. Songs which, while all baring a familiar feel, manage to catch the attention individually as much as they feel like coherent parts of a single unit. Future That Never Happened remains pretty much without equals and stands out from this year’s crop for all the right reasons.

  • Year End Booklet 2006
philippa’s intro bit... It’s been a fantastic year here at Piccadilly Records, what with one thing or another, so here’s a look at the 2006 highlights: Obviously winning the Music Week award for best independent record store was a major coup, and a real reward for all the hard work everyone here puts into making the shop and website good places to buy music. Hopefully we manage to pass on our enthusiasm for the records and CDs we sell, without any of the elitism or snobbery often found in indie shops. On the back of the Music Week award we also ended up being one of the best record shops in the country (The Guardian) and best shops (not just record shops!) in the world (The Observer), while Tim and I were invited onto the airwaves GMR and Radio 4 respectively. The shop’s usual summer heat-wave coincided in part with the World Cup meaning we actually got to take a bit of time off to watch the England matches (oh, lucky us!). Looking back at my intro from our Summer booklet shows how wildly optimistic I was: I mean, England to get knocked out of the World Cup in the semis by Brazil - like that was going to happen! Hopefully we’ll do better in The Ashes (only a few days away as I write this!). On the staffing front Mark Ward added us to the long list of Manchester record shops he’s worked for then decided to head out to the sunnier climes of Australia to work for his dad instead, so good luck to him.
