Accessibility 2019 Getting to and from Auckland Diwali Festival 2019 BUSES City Link From Britomart train station you can get the city link to stop 7054 (280 queen street) - Approximately 13mins. - They leave every 10mins - Cost $1 or free if transferred from another bus or train. Buses affected due to the closure of Queen St between Mayoral Drive and Wellesley St: - Routes 25, 30, 295, 309, 309x, City Link - Auckland Transport will have signage at all bus stops with updated bus stop locations - Use AT’s online Journey Planner to plan your route: https://at.govt.nz/bus-train-ferry/#!/journey-planner 90% of Auckland’s buses kneel to the kerb or have a ramp with specified areas on board for wheelchairs and priority seats at the front. Concessionary fares are available to passengers who hold one of the following photo ID cards: - Auckland Transport Total Mobility ID card. - Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind ID card. Train closures - Sunday 13th October (Due to Maintenance) o Southern Line - Trains will operate between Britomart and Papakura to a special 30-minute timetable. Buses will replace trains between Papakura and Pukekohe. o Eastern Line - Trains will operate between Britomart and Sylvia Park. Buses will replace trains between Panmure and Manukau. CAR Road Closures: - Queen Street between Wellesley Street and Mayoral Drive - Wakefield Street between Queen St and Mayoral Drive - Rutland Street - Airedale St Mobility parks & Drop off points Bledisloe Car park – 4 x mobility parks in Bledisloe Car park - There is a drop off point in the corner of Bledisloe Car park next to the Square Wakefield St - 4 x mobility parks in on Wakefield St Civic Car park - 20 x mobility parking spaces available. These parks are free on weekends with a mobility card PAGE 2 Car parks Civic car park - Located directly next to the Auckland Diwali Festival - Costs $2 per hour with a maximum of $12 until closing (weekend rates) - Saturday - 6am - 3am - Sunday – 6am – 11.30pm - It has 928 parks with a live online tracker to see how many parking spaces are available - Lift access on all floors - 20 mobility parking spaces available. These parks are free on weekends with a mobility card Victoria street car park - Located 750m from Auckland Diwali Festival - Costs $2 per hour with a maximum of $10 until closing - Saturday - 6am -12.30am - Sunday – 6am – 12am (midnight) - Located at 30 Kitchener street - 895 spaces available with a live online tracker to see how many parking spaces are available - Mobility parking available, between 6am and 6pm the first 2 hour are free and then normal fees apply. Between 6pm and 6am parking is free Street Parking The city has 3 parking zones for street parking on the weekend. See the map below. - Zone 1: $2.50 per hour on Saturdays and Sundays between 8am - 10pm. - Zone 2/3: $1.50 per hour on Saturday between 8am – 6pm. PAGE 3 PAGE 4 Getting around the festival Queen St and the Square are open spaces as per normal and have accessible routes around the whole festival site. Queen street has a slight incline, however it is suitable for Aotea Square to Queen street – towards the left there is a flat access path. Access into the Aotea Centre (to the MOKAA Exhibition) is via the ramp to the far left of the main entry stairs as you face the building. Accessible toilets 1 x accessible unit located on Rutland St. Aotea Centre has accessible toilets located within the foyer. See programme map. Quiet times Between 12noon – 4pm each day is the quieter period of the festival. From late afternoon and into the evening, the site begins to get much busier and more crowded, particularly around the food stalls and the main Aotea Square stage. Avoid the rush of lunch time and the large crowds coming to dance to the late-night music. PAGE 5 .
