Page 4 of 265 DECISION ITEM ITEM REPORT OF MEETING DATE NO RESOURCES COUNCIL 14 DECEMBER 2015 7 DIRECTORATE NOTICE OF MOTION – WATER CONTAMINATION PUBLIC ITEM This item is for consideration in the public part of the meeting. SUMMARY Notice of motion is a procedure that allows members of the council to ask the council to discuss any matter for which the Council has a responsibility or which affects the Fylde area. Any member of the council can give written notice to the Director of Resources of a motion that they wish to move. The Director will publish the motion on the council’s website and arrange for it to be placed on the agenda of the next available ordinary council meeting. The motion will be debated at council subject to it being moved and seconded. RECOMMENDATION To consider the Notice of Motion received on 25 August 2015, as amended at Council on 12 October 2015. Page 5 of 265 The Motion 1. The following Notice of Motion was received: “That this Council is concerned by the recent Cryptosporidium contamination to our water supply and the measures taken to deal with it.” The Notice of Motion was duly proposed by Councillor Elizabeth Oades. It was amended by Councillor Linda Nulty with the addition of the following words; “We would therefore request that Fylde Borough Council instructs the Chief Executive write to the Prime Minister, the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the Minister for Energy and Climate Change, drawing their attention to the inadequacy of regulation in major industries, particularly in the light of the fourteenth round of onshore oil and gas licence awards covering much of England. We also request that central government puts in place rigorous, independent, regulatory and inspection regimes for all industries which affect public health above all improved purification of domestic water supplies and the treatment and disposal of contaminated waste water.” 2. At the Council meeting held on 12 October 2015 it was agreed to defer the consideration of the amended motion to the next Council meeting on 14 December 2015, and therefore the amended motion, set out in full below, is referred to this meeting for full debate. “That this Council is concerned by the recent Cryptosporidium contamination to our water supply and the measures taken to deal with it.     LANCASHIRE COUNTY RUGBY FOOTBALL UNION ANNUAL REPORT 2017-18 THE SECRETARY’S OPENING REMARKS Firstly I have to thank the President, Steve Blackburn. Steve has done tremendous work over the year in travelling around clubs and representing the County. A truly approachable gentleman who has brought his own distinct sense of humour to the office. A lot of my Monday mornings have included a phone call from Steve starting with the phrase “I think I may have got away with it but……”. Needless to say the tales have me in stitches. As well as his Presidential duties he is an active member of the Disciplinary and Club & Community Committees which means he’s constantly on the go with his County missionary work. Steve has the huge support of his wife Val, who is also involved on the Mini & Junior committee. A couple entrenched in rugby and its administration, thank you both. To Rugby matters, Our Senior XV have reached the final and other reports in this booklet will cover how they got there, at the time of printing we are in the run up to the final at Twickenham against Hertfordshire whom we were runners up to in the final of the 2011-2012 season. Thanks to Mark Nelson, Steve Rigby, John Greenwood and all the backroom team, along with players who give up their time at the end of very busy seasons to support senior Rugby in Lancashire. Its an absolute joy to be involved in this side of County rugby and one which I look forward to each season.

    WHEN? Inter Faith Week 2017 will take place from Sunday 12 - Sunday 19 November. Inter Faith Week will usually begin on Remembrance Sunday, and run until the following Sunday. It is hoped that the additional Sunday will provide the opportunity for other weekend events to take place as well as those linked to Remembrance Sunday. WHAT? Inter Faith Week: Highlights the good work done by local faith, inter faith and faith-based groups and organisations Draws new people into inter faith learning and cooperation Enables greater interaction between people of different backgrounds Helps develop integrated and neighbourly communities Celebrates diversity and commonality Opens new possibilities for partnership WHY? Building good relationships and working partnerships between people of different faiths and beliefs is part of the year-round work of many people and organisations across the UK. Having a special Week provides a focal point, helping to open inter faith activity up to a wider audience so that more and more people are made aware of the importance of this vital work and are able to participate in it. Six years ago, we created AKS Lytham by merging Arnold and KEQMS schools. Under the leadership of Mike Walton, AKS has developed to an extraordinary extent.
