Thunder Quick Notes: After capping-off a season long six-game road trip last night with a victory over the Pelicans in New Orleans, the Thunder returns home to take-on the Mavericks this evening on the second night of a back-to-back. Entering tonight’s contest versus the Mavs, OKC has won its last four games at Chesapeake Energy Arena. With a win tonight, the Thunder would improve to a season-best nine games above .500. During the month of January, the Thunder is scheduled to play 12 of 15 games away from Chesapeake Energy Arena. During the month, OKC is set to travel more than 16,000 miles while logging nearly 40 hours of flight time. Through 22 games this year the Thunder posted a record of 14-8, which equaled the start for Oklahoma City during the 2015-16 season. Additionally, OKC tipped off the season with a 6-1 record, which represented the best start in Thunder history through seven games.

Second EVER: Through the first 46 games of the season, Russell Westbrook has amassed averages of 30.7 points (1st in the NBA), 10.7 rebounds (11th in the NBA) and 10.4 assists (2nd in the NBA). By reaching these benchmarks, Westbrook is now the second player in NBA history (Oscar Robertson) to average 30+ points, 10+ rebounds and 10+ assists through the first 40+ games of a NBA season. Westbrook again joins Robertson (1961-62) as the only player in NBA history to average a triple-double entering the month of January.

Westbrook Triple-Double Notes: With 23 triple-doubles on the season, Russell Westbrook is now one of just three players (Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson) to record 20+ triple doubles in a single season. Westbrook now owns 60 career triple-doubles which is the most among active NBA players and the fifth most in NBA history. His 23 triple-doubles already surpasses his total from last year (Westbrook recorded 18 triple-doubles during the 2015- 16 season which equaled the most since Magic Johnson during the 1981-82 season). Westbrook’s 23 triple-doubles are now the most since Wilt Chamberlain in 1967-68 (31 triple-doubles). Chamberlain was also the last player to record 18 or more triple doubles in back-to-back seasons (1966-67 and 1967-68).

ALL-TIME NBA TRIPLE-DOUBLE LEADERS Oscar Robertson: 181 Magic Johnson: 138 Jason Kidd: 107 Wilt Chamberlain: 78 Russell Westbrook: 60 Larry Bird: 59 LeBron James: 45

Translating to Wins: Dating back to the start of last season, Oklahoma City has gone a remarkable 36-5 when Westbrook records a triple-double. After going a perfect 18-0 last season in Westbrook’s triple-double games, OKC is currently 18-5 this season when Westbrook accomplishes the feat. In Westbrook’s career, the Thunder owns a 51-9 record in his 60 career triple-doubles.

20/10: During a seven game stretch earlier this month (1/4 at CHA – 1/15 at SAC), Enes Kanter averaged 20.0 points and 10.1 rebounds. In those games, Kanter shot an equally impressive 61.1 percent from the floor during this span.

Stash Brothers: Through the first 46 games of the season, Steven Adams (12.2 ppg) and Enes Kanter (14.6 ppg) have combined to average 26.8 points per game while scoring at a very effective clip. Both Adams (ranks 5th; .589) and Kanter (ranks 7th; .564) rank in the top 10 in NBA shooting percentage. Kanter is one of four players to come off the bench this season and average 14+ points and 6+ rebounds and his Player Efficiency Rating (PER) is currently the 14th best in the NBA. Adams and Kanter have each scored 20 or more in the same game twice this season (OKC prevailed in each of those contests).

Seven Straight Triple-Doubles: After recording seven consecutive triple-doubles (11/25 at DEN -12/9 vs HOU) Russell Westbrook is now the first player since Michael Jordan (recorded seven consecutive triple–doubles from 3/25/89 – 4/6/89) to accomplish the feat. Moreover, Westbrook is just one of four players in NBA history (Wilt Chamberlain, Jordan and Oscar Robertson) to ever recorded seven consecutive triple-doubles. Only Wilt Chamberlain’s nine- game triple-double streak (3/8/68 - 3/20/68) lasted longer then what Westbrook recently accomplished. During Westbrook’s seven consecutive triple- doubles (in which OKC went 6-1), Westbrook averaged an astounding 28.9 points, 13.6 rebounds and 13.0 assists.

First Half Triple Double: In the first half of the Thunder’s 26-point New Year’s Eve victory over the Clippers, Russell Westbrook recorded a triple double in the first half for the second time in his career after logging just 18 minutes and 45 seconds of game action. This represented the second fastest triple- double of his career (Westbrook registered a triple-double in 17 minutes and 46 seconds on Apr. 11, 2016) and the third fastest in NBA history (Jim Tucker holds the NBA record by posting a triple-double in an even 17 minutes during Feb. of 1955).

FAST Triple-Doubles: On Dec. 31 versus the Clippers, Russell Westbrook recorded a triple-double in the first half for the second time in his career. Additionally, in the Thunder’s recent game versus Golden State on Jan. 18 Westbrook recorded a triple-double through three quarters for the 22nd time in his career and the eighth time he’s accomplished the feat this season.

Elite Company: Since the start of the 2009-10 season, the Thunder has won five Northwest Division titles, reached the Conference Finals on four occasions, the NBA Finals once and amassed a record of 398-206 (.659). Based on winning percentage, the Oklahoma City Thunder ranks as the fourth most winning team among the four major professional sports (NBA, NFL, MLB & NHL).

BEST RECORDS SINCE 2009-10 SEASON (includes NBA, NFL, MLB & NHL teams) New England Patriots .773 (99-29) .728 (439-164) Green Bay Packers .685 (87-40-1) Oklahoma City Thunder .659 (398-206)

Boards are the Barometer: Just past the midway mark of the 2016-17 season, the Thunder is currently the fifth leading rebounding team in the NBA (45.5 rpg). OKC is now 9-1 this season when outrebounding the opposition by 10 or more. Additionally, the Thunder ranks second in the NBA with respect to points in the paint (50.0 per game). Last year, the Thunder’s 8.4 rebounding differential was the fourth largest margin since 1950, when rebounding first became a statistic. There were 44 instances this past season in which OKC outrebounded the opposition by 10 or more. No other team in the NBA history has ever accomplished such a feat. OKC also led the league in offensive rebounding (The Thunder controlled 31.1% of its offensive chances, which is the highest percentage for any Thunder era). Adams at the Line: In 44 games this season Steven Adams has demonstrated drastic improvement from the line. At the charity stripe this season, Adams is shooting 70.5% (93-132 FTs). Entering the 2016-17 season Adams had a career free throw shooting percentage of 55.1% (296-537 FTs).

40-Point Streak: In the three games prior to Christmas, Russell became the first player since Michael Jordan in April of 1989 to record three straight 40- point double-doubles. He is also the first player since Wilt Chamberlain in 1964 to post three consecutive games with at least 40+ points, 10+ rebounds and 5+ assists.

New Year’s Eve Basketball: On the final day of 2016, the Thunder claimed its biggest win of the season (26-point margin of victory) over the . With the win, OKC improved to 8-1 on NYE during the Oklahoma City era.

In the Wins: In the Thunder’s 27 wins this season, the Thunder is outscoring the opposition by a 110.4 to 100.4 margin. In those games, OKC is limiting the opposition to just 42.7% shooting. The Thunder is now 14-2 this season when holding the opponent to fewer than 100 points.

What a road to 600: On Nov. 18 versus Brooklyn, Russell Westbrook appeared in his 600th career regular season game. After recording a single rebound and his 20th point, Westbrook joined Oscar Roberson as the second player in NBA history to record 13,000 points, 3,400 rebounds and 4,500 assists through 600 games.

Same Starting 5: Prior to Victor Oladipo missing the Dec. 13 game against the Blazers (right wrist sprain), the Thunder was the ONLY team in the NBA this season to feature the same starting lineup in every game.

Never Before: Russell Westbrook helped lead the Thunder to a perfect 3-0 start to the season and in those games Westbrook became the first player in NBA history to register 100+ points, 30+ rebounds and 30+ assists in the first three games of a season. For the first week of the season, the NBA named Westbrook the Western Conference Player of the Week.

First since Magic: After recording a second consecutive triple-double on Oct. 30 versus the Lakers, Russell Westbrook became the first player to record a triple-double in two of the first three games of the season since Magic Johnson accomplished the feat (to begin the 1982-83 season). Westbrook is one of four players all time to register two triple-doubles in the first three games of the season [Johnson (2x), Jerry Lucas and Oscar Robertson (2x)].

First since Kareem: During the Thunder’s 113-100 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 28, Russell Westbrook became the first player since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1/19/75) to register a triple-double that included 50+ points scored. On the night, Westbrook, scored 51 points to go along with a team-high 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Westbrook equaled a Thunder record by scoring 23 points in the third quarter alone. By accomplishing the feat, Westbrook is now one of just five players (Abdul-Jabbar, Elgin Baylor, Richie Guerin and Wilt Chamberlain) in NBA history to post a triple-double that included 50+ points scored.

International Flavor: Currently, the 2016-17 Thunder roster features five international players (places OKC in top third of the league with respect to number of international players). The NBA as a whole features a record 113 international players entering this season.

INTERNATIONAL THUNDER PLAYERS Alex Abrines (Spain) Steven Adams (New Zealand) Enes Kanter (Turkey) Joffrey Lauvergne (France) Domantas Sabonis (Lithuania)

Oklahoma City returned stateside after splitting their two contests in Europe against Real Madrid and FC Barcelona Lassa. Oklahoma City participated in the Global Games Europe for the first time since 2013 when the Thunder faced-off against the in Manchester, England and Fenerbahçe Ulker in Istanbul, Turkey. OKC is Fan Friendly: The Thunder once again played in front of a packed-house during the entire 2015-16 season as fans continued to fill Chesapeake Energy Arena. After registering sellouts during all 41 home games in each of the five previous seasons, the Thunder has recorded sellouts in 233 consecutive regular season home outings and 277 games overall when including the postseason. Fans in attendance this season will continue to enjoy the improvements made to Chesapeake Energy Arena as part of a taxpayer funded initiative passed in March of 2008. Thanks to the publically funded initiative, the team’s arena boasts new terrace suites, an updated main concourse with new concession stands, a new Sunset Lounge on the Club Level and a first-class courtside club.

Home Cooking: Since arriving in Oklahoma City in 2008, the Thunder has always taken pride in defending its home court. Oklahoma City finished the 2015- 16 season with a home record of 32-9 (tied for 4th best home record in the NBA). Included in that, OKC went an impressive 23-3 at Chesapeake Energy Arena this year when facing Western Conference opponents. Dating back to the start of the 2009-10 season, OKC has gone 227-73 (.757) at home (2nd best home record in the NBA during this span).

Division Champs: During the 2015-16 season, the Thunder secured a fifth Northwest Division title in the past six years and by accomplishing the feat, OKC became just the seventh team in NBA history to win five division titles in six seasons. Additionally, the Thunder became just the third team to win five out of seven division titles immediately following a season with 23 or fewer wins. The first two were the St. Louis Hawks from 1953-54 to 1960-61, and the Baltimore/Capital Bullets from 1966-67 to 1973-74. Finally, since the start of the 2008-09 season, the Thunder is one of two teams (San Antonio) to win a division title in five of six seasons.

OKC is 5-4 on the first night and 2-6 on the second night of a back-to-back, respectively. Last season Oklahoma City played in 16 back-to-backs. OKC finished the year going 12-4 in the first game of a back-to-back and 6-10 on the second night.

Billy on Board: In his first season (2015-16 season) at the helm of the Thunder, Billy Donovan became the only first-year NBA head coach in league history to win 55 games after coming directly from the college ranks. Additionally, Donovan became just the third first year head coach in the last 15 years to win 55+ games during his first season (Kerr & Thibodeau). On April 30, 2015 Billy Donovan was named the third head coach in Thunder history after enjoying an incredibly successful college coaching career which spanned more than two decades. During the past 19 years as head coach at the University of Florida, Donovan led the Gators to two National Championships and four trips to the Final Four while amassing a record of 467-186 (.715). Last season, Donovan became the second youngest coach in NCAA history (Bob Knight) to claim 500 wins.

Sustaining Success: In the past seven season, OKC has compiled the second best Season Winning % Playoff Finish record in the NBA (behind San Antonio). After the 2007-08 season in which 2015-16 .671 (55-27) Advanced to Conference Finals Oklahoma City won 20 games after a 3-29 start, the Thunder found ways to 2013-14 .548 (45-37) Did not qualify improve the club in each of the four subsequent seasons. Oklahoma City has now finished with a winning percentage of .610 (equivalent to 50 wins) six times dating back to the 2009-10 season. Only the San Antonio Spurs (seven seasons with .610 winning percentage), have reached that benchmark more during this period. The chart to the right illustrates the development of the Thunder program through the years.
