You must create your army from the latest release of the following:

• Codex: Blood Angels • Codex: Chaos Daemons • Codex: Chaos Space Marines • Codex: Daemonhunters (printed Codex or PDF release) • Codex: Dark Eldar • Codex: Eldar • Codex: Imperial Guard • Codex: Necrons • Codex: Orks • Codex: Space Marines • Codex: Space Wolves • Codex: Tau Empire • Codex: Tyranids • Codex: Witch Hunters (printed Codex or PDF release)

– No Allies. Armies must be constructed from a single codex.

– We strongly encourage you to paint your army to a 3-color standard, i.e. that the army show no bare plastic or metal, and has been base coated with a minimum of 3 colors. Although you may play with a partially painted army, a player with an unfinished army will be ineligible for the Best Overall Award.

– All models must follow WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get), and units must be easily identifiable as the corresponding unit entry including all unit options. If you are using a “conversion,” it must be easily identifiable as that unit. If you have any questions

Below each unit, list all unit options taken and the cost of each. One copy of this list must be submitted to the Tournament organizers, and must be provided to your opponents upon request.

Please Note: Without exception, you will not be allowed to take part in tournament play until you have submitted a printed or typed army list to the Tournament organizer. You may submit your list in advance via email to mmartin@fantasyflightgames.com.

AWARDS:

Participants are competing for the following awards:

Best Overall: The player with the highest combined score in all three categories will be named Best Overall. Ties will be broken by Kill Points, Appearance and Sportsmanship in that order.

Best General: The player with the most Kill Points will be named Best General unless that player was named Best Overall, in which cast the player with the second most Kill Points will be named Best General. In the event of a tie, the player who played opponents with the highest combined Kill Points will be named Best General. In the highly unlikely event that this still remains as a tie, the players will enter into a sudden death trivia contest.

Best Sportsmanship: The player with the most sportsmanship points will be named the Best Sportsman. Ties will be broken by Kill Points and Appearance in that order.

Best Appearance: The player with the most appearance points will be named Best Appearance. Ties will be broken by Sportsmanship and Kill Points in that order.

GENERALSHIP SCORING:

– At the end of each round both players will separately fill out an End of Action report. This report will include how many Kill Points were earned by both sides. Each player’s scores will be checked against each other. In the event of a discrepancy, both players will be called to the judge to sort it out. The vast majority of these discrepancies are due to bad hand writing or simple errors.

– Kill Points will be based on the same system explained in the 5th edition Warhammer 40,000 rulebook on page 91, for the Annihilation mission, as follows:

Each player receives 1 kill point for each enemy unit that has been completely destroyed. If a character has a retinue, the character and his unit are worth 1 kill point each.

Malleus Imperator Warhammer 40,000 2010 Tournament Rules v1.0 (6/24/10) - Victory Points as described on page 300 will be used only if the match is a tie, and the scenario requires a non-tied result.

SPORTSMANSHIP SCORING:

– At the end of each game, each player will score their opponent as Bad, Good or Great. Players will receive 3 Sportsmanship Points for a Good rating and 5 Sportsmanship Points for a Great rating. Players who receive a Bad rating will be observed by a judge during their following games and the issuing player will be questioned as to why the score was given. If the Judge deems that the Bad rating was appropriate the player will receive 0 points for that game. If the Judge feels that the player issuing the Bad rating was attempting to lower a players overall score without just cause, the players score will be set to “Good”. This prevents players from attempting to game the system.

– At the end of all three rounds each player will be asked to decide which of their opponents their favorite was, that player will earn a bonus Sportsmanship Point.

– In the event that a player receives more than one warranted Bad Sportsmanship score, the player will be disqualified from being named Best in any category. A judge or the event organizer will notify the player of this action.

APPEARANCE SCORING:

Appearance will be scored via the following check list.

Army is painted to more than the minimum “3 color” standard (3 pts.)

The models are based with Sand, Flock, Static Grass, etc. (2 pts.)

The army includes conversions appropriate to a theme (2 pts.)

The models have advanced shading/highlights (1 pts.)

The army includes freehand work, weathering or unit markings (1 pts.)

The army has a display base (1 pts.)

PAIRINGS:

Initial pairings will be randomly assigned. Pairings after the first round will be assigned based on Kill Points. Every efort will be made for players to not play each other more than once in each tournament. Players will be paired with opponents of slightly less or greater Kill Points to prevent playing the same opponent twice.

ROUND TIME:

– Each round will last a maximum of 2.5 hours.

– We have scheduled the three rounds to coordinate with the activities that take place over the weekend, as well as to allow for two breaks. The three rounds are as follows:

10:30 AM - 1:00 PM • Round 1

1:30 PM - 4:00 PM • Round 2

5:00 PM - 7:30 PM • Round 3

Malleus Imperator Warhammer 40,000 2010 Tournament Rules v1.0 (6/24/10) SCENARIOS:

– Players will play a diferent scenario for each round of play. These scenarios will be made available to players on the day of the Tournament.

UNFORTUNATE CIRCUMSTANCES:

Emergencies: Should a player need to leave a tournament unexpectedly please inform a judge or the event organizer immediately. The player will be removed from the pairings and disqualified from winning any “Best” awards.

Byes: In the event that there are an odd number of players, the player with the least Kill Points will receive a “bye” for the round. If possible a substitute game will be arranged with a willing player so that the player can at least play during the time. Regardless the player will receive a 5 Kill Points and 3 Sportsmanship points for the round.

Bad Sportsmanship: Should a judge or the event organizer warrant it necessary a player can be removed from the tournament for bad sportsmanship. We all have bad days; players removed for bad sportsmanship will not be barred from future events, but will be asked to stop participating in the current one.

Cheating: If a player is caught cheating by an event judge, they will be immediately disqualified and removed from the tournament without refund.
