Place Pey-Berland "Buzzing with Activities"

The Place Pey-Berland is where the famous Tour Pey-Berland is located. One will find people from all over the world flocking to the Place Pey- Berland not just to see the popular landmark, but also enjoying themselves at the restaurants, bars, movie halls and other entertainment sections located here. Rue Sainte-Catherine "Large & Busy Shopping Street"

Entirely pedestrianized and over a kilometer long, this is the busiest shopping street in Bordeaux; it is also one of the town's oldest thoroughfares. In Roman times, it was a major north-south road. Today, it is still important, since it links the Grand Théâtre to the Place de la Victoire. Mériadeck Quarter "The Central Quarter"

Up until the end of the 16th Century, this district west of town was nothing but an immense swamp that propagated pestilence. It was drained in the 17th Century and then numerous workshops were established there during the 19th Century. In 1955, the municipality decided to completely renovate the district and made plans for 300 lodgings. In 1963, this by Marc Ryckaert (MJJR) renovation transformed and restructured the quarter and it became an administrative and commercial center dotted with businesses. Pedestrian and vehicle traffic is separated thanks to an immense flagstone overhanging the quarter. The height of buildings is limited.

Basilica of St. Michael "A Very Popular Quarter"

This quarter, built around the eponymous Gothic basilica, is the most lively and colorful in town. A market takes place every Monday and Saturday morning where many shops offer products from Northern Africa. In the past, flat bottomed barges (typical boats) carrying cargoes of wood cast anchor at the foot of the quarter. The wood was unloaded and went by Vincent.RCT to feed the workshops of carpenters on Rue de la Carpenteyre and coopers on Rue de la Fusterie.

Spread over 12.5 hectares (31 acres), the Place des Quinconces is the biggest of its kind in Europe.
