When you are back to school shopping with your kids, put an extra set of items in your cart. We encourage you to use this opportunity to educate your kids about other children 7 miles from HNT who struggle to have the basics we sometimes take for granted. Please use the list to the right as a guideline, with items of greatest need at the top. In August, volunteer to help assemble backpack supplies! Check h-nt.org/volunteers for the August date. Tutor a Child, Change Their World Tutors are needed to help students at Leschi Elementary with math and reading. You do not need a background in teaching to volunteer, but we need tutors who can volunteer on a regular basis with one or two students. This consistency means kids and tutors can get to know and bond with one another. If you are interested in tutoring, email Linda Krisher at [email protected].     ב׳׳ה (Dvar Torah continued from the front page…) law - or, perhaps, any challenge to the leadership of Moses - is off the table. However, this does not appear to be true. Argument is part of the lifeblood of Judaism. If you open the complicated pages of the Talmud, you will be met with layers and layers of dispute and disagreement. If you roll through the Torah, you will even find people arguing with God - and sometimes winning those arguments. If it’s acceptable for a person to challenge even God, then kal ​ va-ḥomer - all the more so - it must be acceptable for a person to challenge Moses. Two points of comparison are helpful in understanding which challenges TORAH SPARKS to authority are legitimate and which are not. The first is found in Parashat Pinḥas: the five daughter of Tzelofḥad approach Moses and the Israelite leadership and point out a gap in the inheritance laws.
