Thomas B. Bell, of a daughter. At George Street, Stranraer, on the 25th Dec., the wife of Mr William Hutchison, of a daughter. At Langlands, Kilmarnock, on the 26th December, Mrs Ranken, of a son. At Caldons, by Newton Stewart, on the 27th Dec. Mrs M'Millan, of a daughter. At Strandville Cottage, Clontarf, Dublin, on the 24th December, Mrs R. M'Meiken, of a daughter. Cairns, Kirkcudbright. At Brighton Place, Portobello, by the Rev. Alex. Philip, of the Free Church, Portobello, Chas. Julian Maitland Makgill Crichton, Esq., of Rankeilour, in the county of Fife, to Anna Campbell, eldest daughter of the late James Jarvis, Esq., R.N., Her Majesty's Treasurer of the Island of Tobago. DEATHS At Queen Street, Stranraer, on the 23d December Sarah Forsyth, youngest daughter of the late Mr John Forsyth - after a very lengthened illness, borne with Christian resignation. Deceased was very much respected, and her death is regretted by relatives and a large circle of friends. At Hillhead, Stranraer, on the 31st December, Miss Mary M'Kie, aged 64 years. At Clayton, Stranraer, on the 26th Dec., after a long illness, Margaret Wallace, wife of the late Captain Hugh M'Crea. At Knockibay, New Luce, on the 27th December, Jane, youngest daughter of Mr Drynan, farmer there. At Garliestown, on the 29th December, Captain William Hannah, after a lingering illness. At Newton Stewart, on the 29th December, Mr Charles Munby, landlord of the Galloway Arms Inn there, after a short but severe illness. At Castle Douglas, on the 18th Dec., Margaret, daughter of the late William Kennedy, saddler, Wigtown. At Castle Douglas, on the 27th Dec., Mr Gordon, printer. 8th January 1852 (Week 2) BIRTHS At M'Culloch Place, Stranraer, on the 2d instant, the wife of Mr John Mackie, of a daughter. At Newton-Stewart, on the 4th instant, the wife of Mr James Vernon, cabinet-maker, of a daughter. At Newton-Stewart, on the 1st instant, Mrs David Andrew, of a son. MARRIAGES At Hollybush House, Dumfries, on the 23d ult., by the Rev. Archibald M'Ewen of the Episcopal Church, Mr James Carruthers, merchant, Liverpool, to Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Mr Benjamin Oney, clothier. DEATHS At Elm House, Stranraer, on 31st December last, Samuel Hannah, Esq., aged 82 years. He was born in the parish of Glenluce. A portion of his early life was spent in the West Indies, where, by means of industry and good conduct, he earned a competency. For the last forty years, during which he resided in Stranraer, he was a useful and much respected member of the community. Strictly honest and honourable in all his transactions, punctual in the discharge of duty, and truly without guile, his loss will be much felt in Stranraer. At St. John Street, Stranraer, on the 5th inst., aged 82 years, Helen Whitehead, relict of Mr A. Black. At Ardrie, near South Cairn, parish of Kirkcolm, on the 5th instant, Janet Galleard, aged 78 years. The deceased was youngest daughter of the late Andrew Galleard, tenant of Ardrie; and it is thought that with her the name Galleard has become extinct in this district. At Drumbuie, parish of Kirkcowan, on the 4th inst., at the advanced age of 84 years, Mr Thomas M'Harg, sometime farmer in Dalnarroch - much respected. On the 24th ultimo, at Fagra Mill, Rerrick, near Kirkcudbright, after a brief illness, aged 52, Mrs Elizabeth Burnet, wife of Mr John Bennet, millwright and farmer. She was highly respected, and is much regretted by her family and numerous friends. At Rothesay, on Thursday morning, the 1st instant, Mrs Alexander MacLeod. Drowned at Irvine, on the evening of Thursday, 1st inst., James Dunsmore, a native of Garliestown, when going on board his vessel, the Margaret Gracie. 15th January 1852 (Week 3) BIRTHS Here, at George Street, on the 2d instant, the wife of Mr Robert Beattie, grocer, of a daughter. At Freugh, Stoneykirk, on the 5th instant, Mrs John Wallace, Kilkeel, Ireland, of a daughter. At Galdenoch, parish of Stoneykirk, on the 8th inst., Mrs Milroy, of a daughter. At Sandhead, on the 6th instant, the wife of D. Devoy, of the seventh son. At Newton Stewart, on the 9th instant, Mrs James S. Gray, of twins. At Leith Walk, Edinburgh, on the 4th instant, the wife of the Rev. J. G. Murray, Auchencairn, of a daughter. At Eccleston Square, London, on the 5th instant, the lady of Commander William Houston Stewart, of H.M. sloop Virago, of a daughter. Lamb, Esq., Clarendon House, Sale, Manchester, to Helen, eldest daughter of the late Mr James Mackie, merchant, Girvan. At Newton Stewart, on the 13th inst., by the Rev. Wm. Reid, Mr John Irving, postman, to Mary, only daughter of the late John Irving, weaver. DEATHS At Portpatrick, on the 12th instant, after a long illness, Mr Robert Thorburn, mason. At Bladenoch, on the 12th instant, Mr Samuel Wilson, residenter. At Newton Stewart, on the 8th instant, Catherine Hogg, relict of Alex. Stewart, shoemaker, aged 60. At Edinburgh, on the 11th instant, Montgomery Hamilton, Esq., youngest son of the late John Hamilton, Esq., of Sundrum - aged 70. At Dumfries, on the 10th instant, Mrs M'Murdo of Lotus, Kirkcudbright. At Millburn, Kirkcudbright, on the 5th inst., Mr John Duncan, aged 71 - much respected. At Largmore, parish of Kells, on the 10th inst., after a protracted illness, Elizabeth Barbour, wife of Mr John Sproat, late merchant in Bradford, Yorkshire. Of wounds received in action on the heights above the Waterkloof, on 6th November, Lieut. John Gordon, 74th Regiment, eldest son of the late Sir Charles Gordon of Drimnin, Knt. 22nd January 1852 (Week 4) BIRTHS At the Manse of Stoneykirk, on the 17th inst., the wife of the Rev. John James Campbell, of a son. At Barwhill, parish of Kirkcowon, on the 14th instant, the wife of Mr George M'Cormack, of a son. At Glenluce, on the 21st instant, the wife of James M'Caa, Esq., merchant, of a daughter. At Government House, Isle of Man, on the 8th instant, the Lady Isabella Hope, of a daughter. DEATHS Here, at Church Street, on the morning of Tuesday, the 20th instant, Alexander M'Douall, Esquire banker, Provost of Stranraer. At Wigtown, on the 17th inst., Janet Hannah, wife of Mr Anthony M'Queen. At Wigtown, on the 18th inst., Susan Wallace, wife of Mr James M'Neil, merchant in Dumfries. At the Garden Cottage, Penninghame House, on the 19th inst., Jane Cunninghame, wife of Mr Wm. Sinclair, gardener there. 29th January 1852 (Week 5) BIRTHS At Portpatrick, on the 24th inst., Mrs John Kerr Railway Inn, of a daughter. At Altimeg, Glenapp, on the 26th instant, Mrs James M'Cracken, of a daughter. At Wigtown, on the 24th inst., the wife of Capt. Cowper, of a son. At York Place, Edinburgh, on the 21st inst., Mrs Milne of Milne Graden, of a daughter. MARRIAGES At Battersea Church, on the 15th inst., by the Rev. J. S. Jenkinson, lieutenant-General Sir George Pollock, G.C.B., to Henrietta, eldest daughter of the late George Hyde Wollaston, Esq., of Clapham Common. DEATHS Here, in North Strand Street, on the 23d instant, Agnes M'Kie. At Girvan, on the 17th instant, aged 11 months, James, son of M William Baird. At Ballantrae, on the 18th inst., Janet M'Credie, wife of the late Mr John Scott, mariner, aged 89 years. At Leamington, on the 13th inst., Agnes, youngest daughter of the late Sir James Carnegie, Bart., aged 8 years. At Parnham, on the 17th inst., Sir Wm. Oglander, Bart., in the 83d year of his age.
