The Austin Convocation of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas welcomes YOU! We are doing great things in diverse worshiping communities, and they are waiting to worship with you on Sunday, July 8, 2018. Below you will find offerings in all shapes, sizes, locations, and rites. Each church has prepared a description of itself in its own words, and we invite you find one that speaks to you. Please don’t be dismayed at the distances — some of our newest church plants are a little further out but have much to offer and share. We’ve got hidden gems all over the city. Think about carpooling or using RideAustin or another ride share to keep costs down and fellowship up. We can’t wait to see you!
Episcopal Church of the Resurrection
The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection is a family‐sized mission located in the heart of the cozy Crestview neighborhood at 2200 Justin Ln., Austin, TX 78757. We offer two Sunday services at 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM. The 8:30 service is a small Rite I service with no music in our chapel, while the 10:30 service is Rite II, takes place in the Nave, and includes a full choir. Fr. James Derkits (Trinity Episcopal Church, Port Aransas) will preach both services: all money from the offertory will go to rebuilding efforts in Port Aransas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.
St. James’ Episcopal Church

St. Julian’s of Norwich Episcopal Church
St. Julian’s is a 9‐year‐old Church Plant of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas meeting in a renovated commercial space. We provide Ancient/Future Sacramental Worship blending traditional hymnody, Taize, gospel and contemporary music. Children of all ages are very welcome and so are shorts and flip flops. Episcopal Church of the Cross
The Episcopal Church of the Cross is a new congregation located in the Lake Travis area, west of Austin. Enjoy a beautiful drive into the Hill Country, and worship with this new people being created to bringing God’s healing, hope, and reconciliation to the world, beginning in our very neighborhoods. Worship and Children’s Ministry begins at 9:30 AM. Church of the Cross worships in the cafeteria of the Serene Hills Elementary School, located at 3301 Serene Hills Drive in Lakeway. St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church
St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church – 8134 Mesa Drive, Austin 78759 ‐ a stress‐free 15 minute Uber/Lyft ride from downtown on a Sunday morning. On July 8 at 10:30am we invite you to our Holy Eucharist which will feature some of Austin’s finest singer‐songwriters including Shinyribs front man Kevin Russell, the Shiny Soul Sisters, Robert Harrison, and songwriter Wendy Colonna will delight you with her great voice and spiritual power. The cool vibe of the Austin Saxophone Ensemble will accompany our organ and piano. 60 minute service with sermon, music and communion followed by a 30 minute mini‐concert featuring our guest musicians! St. Mark’s Episcopal Church
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is located 2128 Barton Hills Drive in Austin’s Greenbelt, just up the hill from the iconic Barton Springs Pool the spiritual center of the city and the site of the 1730 abandoned Franciscan Mission Come early and walk our meditation trail, or bring your swimming gear to jump in the Springs following service. St. Mark’s is also home to the Episcopal Veterans Fellowship. The Associate Rector and founder of EVF, The Rev. David Peters, will be preaching July 8th and hosting area veterans for a gathering about veterans ministry after both the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. service.

St. George’s Episcopal Church
St. George's Episcopal Church, located at 3501 North I‐35, just south of Airport Blvd, holds two services each Sunday. The 8:00 am service is a Rite I Eucharist with a shared sermon and no music. The 10:00 am service is a Rite II Eucharist with choir, congregational music, and KidsWord and YouthWord Sunday School programs for children and youth. The mission of St. George's Episcopal Church is to worship God and share our faith through word, action, and service. St. Michael’s Episcopal Church
Located in the western hills of Austin, St. Michael's Episcopal Church is set against the idyllic Texas countryside, offering 7:45am and 10am services on Sundays. The Rev. Jimmy Bartz, founder of Thad’s Episcopal Church in Santa Monica, CA, and current rector of St. Johns in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, will be our preacher Sunday, July 8th. On Sunday, July 8th, Southwest will host a 10am Holy Eucharist in Christ Chapel, followed by a Brunch and Open House, to allow convention attendees an opportunity to experience our serene and beautiful campus. The Holy Eucharist will have The Rt. Rev. Todd Ousley presiding, and The Very Rev. Cynthia Briggs Kittredge preaching. Please join us on campus for either the Holy Eucharist or the Brunch, or both. The brunch will be an open ended buffet, so if you decide to visit another of the wonderful parishes in Austin, please drop by afterwards for a delicious meal and fellowship, and the chance to unwind from the activity downtown.
Just 3 miles from the convention center, a visit to Southwest may just be the break you need on this Sunday morning midway through General Convention. The perfect chance to learn or share about Seminary of the Southwest. All are welcome!
