My assignment was to look at all the trees on site and determine the following: *Any protected trees that need to be mitigated *Any non-protected trees on-site *Prepare a tree inventory for a CEQA report that is being prepared. The following is a summary of my observations with recommendations. OBSERVATIONS I observed 18 various species of trees located on the north and south sides of the property, (see attached tree inventory sheet). I observed 14 City Trees that appeared to be recently planted; 8 ‘Drake’ Chinese Elm trees located on the north sidewalk; 6 Drake’ Chinese Elm trees on the south sidewalk; and 1 established Crape Myrtle tree located on the east sidewalk area. Some of the newly planted Chinese Elm trees appeared stressed, but the established Crape Myrtle was in good condition. All of the site trees are currently in fair to good condition. In our conversation, you mentioned to me that the property owners are renovating the site and will be removing a number of trees as a result of the new site plan. Presently, none of the trees on site are protected by the City or the County of Los Angeles but note the city trees bordering the sidewalks around the property are protected. P.O. As currently defined in the Los Angeles Municipal Code (LAMC), a Protected Tree is any of the following Southern California native tree species that measures four inches or more in cumulative diameter, four and one-half feet above the ground level at the base of the tree: • Oak, including Valley Oak and California Live Oak, or any other tree of the oak genus indigenous to California but excluding the Scrub Oak • Southern California Black Walnut • Western Sycamore • California Bay. These trees are subject to the provisions of the LAMC that regulate relocation, removal, and replacement for Protected Trees. RECOMMENDATIONS If tree preservation is a goal for any of the site trees, I recommend a tree protection plan be prepared and followed during construction. If you have any questions, or request additional information, please contact me at (909)-590- 4100. Sincerely, Mike Parker Certified Arborist WE3414A, TRAQ Tree Risk Assessment Qualified P.O.
