Ierra Hull Est Née Le 27 Septembre 1991 À Byrdstown Dans Le Tennessee ierra Hull est née le 27 Septembre 1991 à Byrdstown dans le Tennessee. S Elle grandit dans une famille de musiciens et comme beaucoup de familles américaines, Sierra assiste aux offices dans Oak Grove Baptiste Church, chante avec son frère aîné Cody et sa mère, accompagnée par son père à la guitare rythmique. La famille écoute le bluegrass avec des artistes comme Doyle Lawson, Flatt & Scruggs, Tony Rice. Sierra va apprécier aussi Jimmy Martin et bien sur Alison Krauss. Le premier instrument avec lequel joue Sierra est le violon, mais devant la difficulté, instrument trop grand pour elle, elle choisit de jouer de la Mandoline; elle a alors 7 ans. Rapidement elle devient prodige et l’association IBMA, l’invite à se produire dans un mini- Showcase lors d’un festival de Bluegrass Music à Louisville dans le Kentucky. C’est au cours d’un événement créé par IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) qu’elle rencontre Ron Block, joueur de banjo et de guitare qui fait partie du Band d’Alison Krauss. Ron favorise une rencontre avec Alison. Ron Block Alison se lie d’amitié avec Sierra et va l’inviter à se produire avec elle sur la scène du Grand Ole Opry; Sierra à tout juste 8 ans. Sur la scène du Grand Ole Opry avec Alison Kraus Alors qu’elle joue professionnellement depuis 10 ans, elle signe son premier contrat d’enregistrement avec le label Rounder Records. A 11 ans, accompagnée par Alison Krauss et Dan Tyminski, elle va se produire à une soirée à la Maison Blanche le 21 Novembre 2011. Elle commence à écrire et joue ses propres chansons; à 16 ans alors qu’elle est encore scolarisée, elle sort son premier album intitulé "Secrets", sous le label Rounder Records. Dan Tyminski & Alison Krauss Elle se produit plusieurs années avec son groupe ‘’ Sierra Hull & Highway 111’’ composé de son frère Cody Hull à la guitare, Cory Walker au banjo et Dobro et John Fox à la basse. Sierra Hull, chanteuse et mandoliniste se distingue en devenant la première musicienne de bluegrass qui reçoit une bourse présidentielle afin d’entreprendre des études dans le prestigieux ‘’Berklee College of Music’’. L’Institution située à Boston dans le Massachusetts, est le plus grand collège indépendant de la musique contemporaine dans le monde. Sierra lors de la cérémonie, remise des diplômes en compagnie d’Alison Krauss Sierra Hull a été nominée à plusieurs reprises par l’IBMA et elle a obtenu sa huitième nomination en tant que: ‘’ instrumentiste de l'année dans la catégorie de la mandoline’’. Elle crée un DVD pédagogique afin d’apprendre la mandoline intitulé : ‘’Secrets Songs & Tunes Mandolin’’. Elle raconte : ‘’Ron Block et moi sommes allés en Virginie dans les studios de AcuTab et avons enregistré en 4 jours l’album et 2 DVD’’. https://youtu.be/lA82NOHXIP0 Elle a fait de nombreuses participations à des festivals (y compris Merlefest et Rockygrass en 2007), de nombreux spectacles aux conventions IBMA en 2006 et 2007, ainsi que des ateliers IBMA parrainés. The Bay Area Bluegrass Asso- ciation proudly announced the 2011 winners of the State of Texas Flatpicking and Banjo Championship. This years win- ners were two of Texas finest young musicians. Lucas White of Corsicana, TX won First Place in flatpicking. The Second Place winner was Chris Bagley of Be- laire, TX and Kyle Mikulan of Houston came in third. Lucas is featured in the recently release DVD “Fanning the Flame”. For the second time the First Place trophy in banjo was awarded to the talented and mild mannered Adam Swiffer Greer of Brenham, TX (Adam was also a CTBA Scholarship recipient in 2010). Bryan Hol- lifield of Chandler, TX came in second and Mathew Pratt of Friendswood, TX came in third. Adam holds the distinction of being the Great State’s young- est banjo champion when he won in 2008 at age 16. He plans to return in 2014 so look out! It seems the past few years the festival has had more than its share of “April Show- ers”. Shucks, the rain doesn’t stop the pick- ing and the live music.
