The Ptness suite is being extended and the changing rooms – criticised in the past for sub-standard conditions - are to be upgraded. A climbing wall is being added to the facility and the whole centre, under new manager Adam Harris, will be up to Sport England standards. The centre remains open during the work and every effort is being made to minimise inconvenience to users. Coun Sheila Woodyatt, a governor at Lymm High School, said: "This is very good news for users of the facility because it is going to mean much higher standards. "People should be reminded that the leisure centre is not a council facility – while it is available to the whole community it belongs to the school." A later phase of the improvement will include replacement of the popular all-weather sports pitch.

The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust in Millington, near Lymm, was the benefactor of the event held at Mere and Country Golf Club, which raised £9,500. Around 240 ladies packed out the luncheon event that included a cocktail reception, three course meal, butlers in the buff, performance from singer Cole Page, a range of stall and an auction. Julie Gray, Community Fundraiser at the adventure farm, said: “Every year this event goes from strength to strength and we have to move to a bigger venue to accommodate our wonderful guests. “This year certainly didn’t disappoint, we’re all overwhelmed at the generosity of the guests. Their support really will have a huge impact on the lives of children in desperate need from all over our region.” The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust provides holidays, respites and Christmas parties for disabled, disadvantaged and terminally ill children and their families.
