Lot 24 Pair of bronze candlesticks in medieval manner, turned height 35cm 200 400 shape on three lion feet and wide tassa with middle spike, partly verdigris. Lot 25 Jacob Jordaens (1593-1678)-studio, As the old sing, so the 128x175cm 4500 9000 young pipe, in a traditional Dutch interior, with view to a landscape, sitting an old couple and two ladies by a drapped table and singing from books and pages, while two children and young man pipe, a young boy in the centre viewing the scene, as well a dog, a cat and a bird surround the table; the face of the old lady reflects in a mirror. This seems to be a yet not recorded version of the subject "As the old sing, so the young pipe" in the literature. Oil on canvas. Eines der absoluten Highlights stellt das im Jahr 1910 entstandene Aquarell „Die Bäuerinnen“ von Egon Schiele dar. Eine expressive Studie von sechs Frauen in ländlicher Tracht, die in der starken Konturierung der Figuren und der markanten Linienführung der Gesichter die charakteristische Bildsprache des Malers aufweisen. Speziell das Antlitz der vordersten Frau und der schwarz eingerahmte Kopf rechts hinter ihr besitzen mit ihren weißen Augenhöhlen und der länglichen Physiognomie die eindringliche und oft er- schreckende Expressivität von Schieles typischen Figuren. Egon Schiele ist heute mit Gustav Klimt der wichtigste österreichische Maler des 20. Jahrhunderts, dessen Werke am internationalen Kunstmarkt Höchstpreise erzielen und zu den gesuchtesten Sammlerstücken avanciert sind. Ungefähr zehn Jahre später malte Carl Moll das imposante Bild „Dahlien“ in dem er die weißen und pin- ken Blumen mit einem aufgelösten Pinselduktus und einer beeindruckenden Lichtgestaltung mit großer Virtuosität auf die Leinwand setzte.

    belvedere belvedere GALLERY GUIDE ENGLISH Schwarzenberg, Radierung, 1731 BELVEDERE Baroque Palace and Art Collection he Belvedere is an extensive Baroque palace com- plex comprising the Upper Belvedere, Lower Bel- Tvedere, Orangerie and Grand Stables buildings which are couched in magnificent Baroque gardens. The estate extends over gently sloping grounds and is adorned with cascades of staircase fountains, Baroque sculptures and splendid wrought iron gates. Since 1903, the palace estate has housed one of Austria’s largest art museums. The collection focuses on works from Austria extending from the Middle Ages to contemporary pieces. The Belvedere is renowned as guardian of the world’s largest collection of paintings by Gustav Klimt; it also houses one of the largest collections of Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka pain- tings. The Baroque estate of the Belvedere was originally concei- ved as a summer residence. At the time it was built, it was Salomon Kleiner, Prospect of Prince Eugene’s gardens, neighbouring gardens of the St. Francis de Sales Monastery and Prince part of a general building boom in Vienna, the Imperial Schwarzenberg, etching, 1731 Emperor’s residence, which was to bestow upon the city some of its most beautiful buildings. This prosperous era was made possible by the successful conclusion of the wars against the Ottoman Empire. After their unsuccessful siege of Vienna for several months in 1683, the Turks were pushed further and further eastwards before being ultimately crushed at the battle of Zenta in 1697. The commander of this important victory was Prince Eugene of Savoy, who commissioned the building of the Belvedere palaces.
