Beispiele für die Abfassung der Literaturzitate sind dem vorliegenden Heft zu entnehmen. Der Beitrag sollte getrennt nach Text und Abbildungen entweder als E-Mail oder auf CD übermittelt werden. Bei Abbildungen und Tabellen ist auf eine ausreichende Auflösung und eindeutige Beschriftung zu achten. Ein zusätzlicher Papierausdruck ist wünschenswert, Abbildungen wie Strichzeichnungen, Karten etc. sind auf reinweißem Karton oder Transparentpapier auf gesondertem Bogen beizufügen. Die Autoren verantworten den Inhalt ihrer Beiträge selbst. Honorare werden nicht gezahlt. Von jeder Arbeit werden den Autoren 30 Separatdrucke kostenlos zugestellt. Darüber hinaus gehende Heftbestellungen sind gebührenpflichtig. Ein Nachdruck – auch auszugsweise – bedarf der Zustimmung des Herausgebers. True bugs (Insecta, Heteroptera) are rarely used as indicators in conservation biology. They are regarded un- suitable either because of low explanatory power or lack of specialists. The aim of the present paper is - with a focus on Germany, Austria and Switzerland - to reconsider this judgement by taking a closer look upon current taxonomic and faunistic knowledge, availability of standardized collect- ing techniques and sampling designs, indicatory value, availability of red lists of endangered species and cost-benefit analyses of collecting and determination. Suggestions for standardized col- lecting techniques are given for different habitat types. The paper emphasizes the high cost-benefit value of Heteroptera due to their high indicatory value at low costs for collecting and determina- tion. Heteroptera are considered to be very profitable and highly suitable indicators for nature conservation. Medler INTRODUCTION HIS bulletin attempts to present as accurate and complete a T guide to the leafhoppers of Minnesota as possible within the limits of the material available for study. It is realized that cer- tain groups could not be treated completely because of the lack of available material. Nevertheless, it is hoped that in its present form this treatise will serve as a convenient and useful manual for the systematic and economic worker concerned with the forms of the upper Mississippi Valley. In all cases a reference to the original description of the species and genus is given. Keys are included for the separation of species, genera, and supergeneric groups. In addition to the keys a brief diagnostic description of the important characters of each species is given. Extended descriptions or long lists of references have been omitted since citations to this literature are available from other sources if ac- tually needed (Van Duzee, 1917).

The ground plan and comparative morphology of the nymphal head of Membracoidea are presented with particular emphasis on the position of the clypeus, frons, epistomal suture, and ecdysial line. Differences in interpretation of the head structures in Auchenorrhyncha are discussed. Membracoidea head may vary more extensively than heads in any other group of insects. It is often modified by the development of an anterior carina, which apparently was gained and lost multiple times within Membracoidea. The main modifications of the head of Membracoidea and comparison of those changes with the head of other superfamilies of Auchenorrhyncha are described. The fauna of Typhlocybini (sensu stricto, excluding Empoascini) endemic to South America is reviewed and comprises seven closely related genera, five described herein as new, and 55 species, 52 here described as new. The genera and species are described and keys and illustrations are provided to aid in their identification. Columbonirvana Linnavuori comprises 17 species, 16 new. Eualebra Baker comprises 19 species, 17 new. Euzyginella gen. nov., comprises four new species. Neozyginella gen. nov., comprises six new species. Pseudhadina gen. nov., comprises one new spe- cies. Pseudozyginella gen. nov., comprises three new species. Tahurella gen. nov., comprises five new species. One new synonym is recognized: Eualebra smithii Baker, 1899 equals Dikraneura (Hyloidea) reticulata Osborn, 1928, syn. nov. One previously described species placed in Eualebra belongs in tribe Dikraneurini; thus, a new combination is proposed: Alconeura (Hyloidea) rubra (Van Duzee), comb. nov. Key words: Auchenorrhyncha, Typhlocybini, morphology, taxonomy, distribution Introduction The leafhopper genus Eupteryx was established by Curtis (1829) with Cicada atropunctaca Goeze as its type species and includes two subgenera Eupteryx and Stacla Dworakowska, 1969, with 120 species to date (Mühlethaler & Gnezdilov 2013, Guglielmino 2014, Dmitriev & Dietrich 2003). Some species of the nominate subgenus Eupteryx from India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan were described by Distant (1918), Melicher (1903), Young (1952) and Ahmed (1967, 1969). Dworakowska (1978) confirmed eighty- one known species in the subgenus Eupteryx distributed in the Palaearctic, Nearctic, Oriental and Ethiopian Regions, and reviewed forty species of subgenus Eupteryx in Asia (Dworakowska, 1982).
