Alien Species: A plant or animal species introduced from elsewhere: neither endemic nor indigenous. Alternatives: In relation to a proposed activity, means different means of meeting the general purpose and requirements of the activity, which may include alternatives to: (a)The property on which or location where it is proposed to undertake the activity; (b) The type of activity to be undertaken; (c) The design or layout of activity; (d) The technology to be used in the activity; and (e) The operational aspects of the activity. Applicant: Any person who applies for an authorization to undertake an activity or to cause such activity to be undertaken as contemplated in the National Environmental Management Act (Act No. 107 of 1998), as amended and the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2010. PROPOSED TENBOSCH TIMESHARE RESORT IV Buffer zone: Is a collar of land that filters out inappropriate influences from surrounding activities, also known as edge effects, including the effects of invasive plant and animal species, physical damage and soil compaction caused by trampling and harvesting, abiotic habitat alterations and pollution. Buffer zones can also provide more landscape needed for ecological processes, such as fire. Construction Activity: Any action taken by the Contractor, his subcontractors, suppliers or personnel during the construction process. Ecology: The study of the inter relationships between organisms and their environments. Environment: All physical, chemical and biological factors and conditions that influence an object and/or organism. Environmental Impact: An Impact or Environmental Impact is the degree of change to the environment, whether desirable
