The awards are based on turnover of Husqvarna products, brand commitment and brand support as assessed by Husqvarna New Zealand from its 108 nationwide dealerships. After just a year with the brand the Lawnmower & Chainsaw Centre was presented a Gold Award — but this year are proud to have gone one better. The Lawnmower & Chainsaw Centre is exclusively a Husqvarna dealership — a brand Mr Edkins and his team believe in. “Husqvarna has the largest range of outdoor equipment in the market place,” says Mr Edkins. “We don’t have to look at a variety of brands to meet our clients’ needs.” And the team is excited about the new range of lithium-ion battery powered equipment that is launching soon. “It exceeds our expectations.” Mr Edkins says the award was a real team effort. The team (pictured on our back page advertisement) consists of Sheree Easterbrook (office manager), Dave Southcombe (sales), Tony Pinny (work- shop manager) and his technicians Paul Young and Matt Flood. Sales growth has helped the cause, plus the team is dedicated to improving their brand knowledge and upskilling themselves by undertaking the online Husqvarna University courses in their own time. Mr Edkins says the combination means a great product is backed up by great sales and service, resulting in high levels of customer satisfaction. The story doesn’t end there for the Lawnmower & Chainsaw Centre, which is making improvements to the dealer- ship to be revealed next month. Movie history marked at local theatre

To mark the Empire Theatre’s 100th birthday a special commemoration will be held in Cinema One of the Regent Theatre tonight, Tuesday March 15 (6pm). The Empire Company came into being in 1915 and construction of the Empire Theatre was started later in the year. It had a grand opening on March 15, 1916, when the Hamilton Operatic Company staged ‘The Geisha’. It was a big day for Te Awamutu and the Waipa Post (Te Awamutu Courier) reported that the theatre was opened by J A Young MP before an audience of 600 people. Guests at the commemoration tonight will include WDC Mayor Jim Mylchreest, Regent owner and historian Allan Webb, as well as former and current owners of the Empire theatre/building. As the theatre opened with the perform- ance of an opera, local soprano Alice Gower will be performing. Speakers will provide a history of the building, information about the role the Empire has taken in the community and the improtance of preservation of buildings like the Empire. There will also be a photo presentation. Anyone interested in our local buildings, who have been to the Empire Theatre or are interested in local cinema history are urged to attend this very special occasion. 8 Te Awamutu Courier Tuesday, March 15, 2016 IN BUSINESS CIRCLES WHAT’S HOT Brunch Box keeps it local
