This year, we’re offering a new tool for parents to help determine if a camp is appropriate for their girl: each camp is marked on a Level range from 1-5. Details on the levels and what they mean on the next page. Resident Camps (pages 12-20) • Choose from three-night, five-night or 12-night programs. • All the resident camp programs are operated and run by Girl Scout councils. • Each week of camp has a different theme with activities centering around the theme. G.I.R.L. Adventure Camps (pages 21-23) • These are multi-night programs with specific themes. • Programs originate at Badgerland properties with off-site trips related to the theme. Leadership Camp @ Camp Ehawee (pages 30-31) • Badgerland’s renowned camp leadership program is back and better than ever. • All the Leadership programs are held at Badgerland’s Camp Ehawee. • NEW IN 2019! A Junior Counselor internship that lets girls set their own schedule. CampHERO (pages 26-27) • An exciting hands-on camp for girls to experience the real-world of first responders. • Cadettes attend a three night camp while Seniors and Ambassadors stay five nights. ALL NEW CampBUILD (pages 28-29) • An exciting hands-on camp for girls to experience the real-world of the building trades. • Cadettes attend a two night camp while Seniors and Ambassadors stay four nights. Parent-Girl Camps (page 24) • Attend together for a two-night camp experience at Camp Ehawee. • Separate sessions for either moms or dads to take their girl to camp. • A great intro to Girl Scout camp or for girls already comfortable camping. Troop Camps (page 25) • Troop Camp at Badgerland’s Camp Black Hawk is an awesome DIY experience. The camp is available for troops to book June 8 through August 28 (except July 4th weekend). • A second Troop Camp is available for Cadettes this summer with staff-led and planned activities at White Pines Ranch in Oregon, IL. 6 gsbadgerland.org HERE’S A NEW TOOL FOR PARENTS: Introducing “Levels” An easy way to assess how adventurous each camp will be At Girl Scouts, all programming is ‘progressive’. That means the activities and experiences build on each other - as she gains new knowledge or a new skill she then is ready to take the next step and ‘progress’ to a higher level of activity or experience. In the Girl Scout Camp World, the lingo for this is Outdoor Experience Progression. In a nutshell, it means that your girl may be ready for a Level 1 experience or Level 3 or even a Level 5. You are the expert on your girl and her level of adventurousness; use the Level Guide as a tool to help determine which camp is right for her. Review the chart below to help you gauge which level camps your girl is ready to tackle. All the programs in this Camp Book are assigned a level. If you have questions about Camp Program Levels, please connect with us anytime: [email protected].
