This year the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts (BIA-MA) focused on growing development to raise the funds necessary to provide for survivors. Between various events, fundraising efforts, and generous donations, BIA-MA raised $387,827 while raising awareness. At the same time we continued to expand our prevention, education, advocacy, and support programs! During this year we further solidified the structure of the regional offices and the services they provide. This allowed us to grow to 45 support groups that provided 530 activities to over 6,000 participants statewide! These support groups provide an informal setting for brain injury survivors to gather stories and strategies to continue healing. Another one of our ground-breaking accomplishments is in the field of Education. We are proud to say that the 35th Annual Brain Injury Conference was the biggest ever with 812 participants, 29 workshops, and 50 exhibitors! Other successful trainings included the ABI Clinical Continuing Education Program, Provider Trainings, and Introduction to Brain Injury. Our goals for the upcoming year include increasing brain injury awareness and BIA-MA visibility, advocating for legislation and improved community services for individuals with brain injury, and continuing to be the premier brain injury resource & information provider in Massachusetts. Our ground-breaking accomplishments would not have been possible without a strong Executive Director, Nicole M. Godaire, superb staff, committed Board of Directors, corporate sponsors, members, many families and friends of the organization. Because of you BIA-MA remains a leader, not only in Massachusetts, but also as a national brain injury affiliate. On behalf of BIA-MA's Board of Directors, staff, and many thousands of individuals and families whose lives have been touched, thank you for your ongoing support and involvement. Sincerely, Teresa Hayes, MSW, LICSW BIA-MA President 3 Year in Review It has been a very busy year for the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts (BIA-MA).
