January 2012 Mr. Arthur Samuel Leebrick Sr., age 90, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Heritage Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, January 6, 2011, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Geoff Giesemann and Russ Countess will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will be 2 PM Friday at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. He was born August 30, 1921, in Monrovia, California, to the late Aaron Samuel and Edna Denley Leebrick. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II. He was a retired cabinet maker, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Leebrick was a faithful member of Fairlane Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Leebrick, in 1980 and a son, Arthur Samuel Leebrick, Jr., in 2002, and a great grandson, Oliver Grover Sherman. He was also preceded in death by a step son, Steve Foster and a step granddaughter, Lauren Eischeid. He is survived by his wife, Lorene Wilhoite Foster Leebrick, of Shelbyville; children, Marian Leebrick (Walter) Sherman, of Antioch, Anna Leebrick (Henry) Wilhoite, of Shelbyville, and Joan Charlton Leebrick, of Smyrna; Jack (Christine) Foster, Sandra(Frank) Boyd, Betty (Waldon) Faulk, and Dave(Bobbie) Foster; a sister, Marian Leebrick Paquette, of California; seventeen grandchildren, Arlene Dionne Sherman-Wiles, Anthony Samuel Leebrick, Steven Owen Sherman, Christie Jean Wilhoite-Reed, Gregory Alan Leebrick, Sherri Lynn Wilhoite Rains, Michael James Wilhoite, Sarah Jane Sherman, Linda(David) Drinkard, Todd Foster, Jeff (Suzy) Foster, Jackson K.(Susan) Foster, Kirk Boyd, Kim (Steve) Wright, George (Robyn) Faulk, Mary Grace(Paul) Hotovec, and Josh Foster; twenty seven great grandchildren, Heather Nicole Wiles, Chloe Elizabeth Leebrick, August Russell Wiles, Nolan Samuel Leebrick, Matthew Tyler Reed, Nathan Michael Rains, Madison Grace Leebrick, Andrew Seth Reed, Lance Thomas Rains, Presley Louise Leebrick, Joshua Keith Rains, Spencer Owen Sherman, Gregory Maddux Leebrick, Sean Aaron Sherman, Stephanie Drinkard, Tyler Foster, Jake Foster, Nathan Foster, Cody Foster, Katie Foster, Joseph Boyd, Erika Boyd, Mary-Evelyn Wright, Elliott Hotovec, Isaac Hotovec, Griffen Faulk, and Catherine Faulk. Memorial service will be 1 PM Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Mt. Zion Haley Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Sandra K. Avent will be eulogist. Per his request, his remains were cremated. Birdsong, age 63, of Murfreesboro, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, Kentucky. Funeral services will be 1 Pm Saturday, January 7, 2011, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Pastor Timothy Posch and Chaplain Don Tipton will officiate. Following the service, Mr. Birdsong will be cremated. Burial will be in Hazel Cemetery in Bell Buckle at a later date. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday and again one hour prior to service Saturday. He was born October 19, 1948, in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, to Vernice Bacott Birdsong, of Springfield, Missouri, and the late Neil Preston Birdsong. He was retired as a sales consultant in the roofing business, an avid golfer, and loved to fish. He was a member of World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 39+ years, Terry Willett Birdsong, of Murfreesboro; a son, Chase Birdsong, of Los Angeles, California, and a daughter, Nikki Birdsong Parker, and her husband Kenneth, of Murfreesboro; two brothers, Roy Birdsong, and his wife Kathleen, of Springfield, Missouri, and Robert Birdsong, and his wife Laura, of Beaumont, California; three grandchildren, Kyler Parker, William Parker, and Caroline Parker; mother-in-law, Rosemary Willett, of Louisville, Kentucky. Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, January 7, 2011, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend Dr. Lloyd Doyle will officiate, with burial to follow in Old Orchard Cemetery in Petersburg. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. He was born May 1, 1941, in Lincoln County, to the late James William and Alice Pauline Ramsey Sullivan. He was a retired foreman from Eaton Corporation and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed fishing, and loved his family. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Petersburg. He was preceded in death by a son, Ty Sullivan. He is survived by his wife of almost fifty years, Ruby Sullivan, of Shelbyville; a daughter, Cindy Sullivan Rollins, and her husband Kelly, of Murfreesboro; four grandchildren, Kara Beth Sullivan, Kelli Lee Rollins, G Broc Rollins, and Mallory Sullivan. Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend Bryan Nerren will officiate, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 noon Sunday until time of service. He was born August 21, 1960, in Shelbyville, to the late Ernest Lee Melson and Belba Lou Hudson Waters. He was a member of International House of Prayer. He is survived by a brother, Tommy Melson, and his wife Donna, on Unionville. Funeral services will be 1PM Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Shelton Cemetery in Beech Grove. Visitation will be 11 AM Saturday until time of service. Lon Hoover Shelton was born September 5, 1913. He was the sixth child of eight born to Arnie Frizzell and Samuel Forrest Shelton in Beech Grove, Tennessee lived the majority of his 98 years in Bedford County. He graduated from Middle Tennessee State Teachers College with a degree in education. In 1925, he met Cleo Gonce, the little sister of his brother Paschal’s wife Wynne, and they were married in 1938. They lived in Gonce, Alabama and Stevenson Alabama, where two of their three daughters were born, teaching and farming until 1945, when they bought a farm and moved to Shelbyville, where they spent the rest of both their lives. Lon and Cleo dedicated their lives to rearing their three daughters, sending all three to MTSU for degrees, and teaching and farming until they retired. They were partners who worked side-by-side in parenting, teaching, gardening, farming, planting, and harvesting. Their retirement centered on family and their church, Garrison Fork Baptist in Beech Grove, TN, where both were active members their entire adult lives. They had been happily married for 65 years when Cleo passed away at age 87 in 2002. Lon Shelton taught at Shelbyville Mills School and Harris Middle School in the Bedford County School System until he retired in 1975 to continue cattle farming. Lon and his family enjoyed music throughout their lives. As young men, Lon and his 3 brothers sang in a gospel/western quartet for church and radio and entertaining at socials. Lon encouraged his daughters in their music endeavors with piano and voice lessons and performances that required much of his time while the girls were at home and in college. He loved to play his 1930’s Gibson guitar, sing, and yodel, sharing his talent
