The Tall Pines Project was directed by Dr. Peter Quinby as a research program of the Temagami Wilderness Society from 1987 until 1990. From 1990 to 1991, Dr. Quinby directed the Ancient Forest Project as a program of the Wildlands League and from 1992 to the present, Dr. Quinby has been directing the research carried out by Ancient Forest Exploration & Research.
