Modul praktek penggunaan alat peraga energi terbarukan Surat rekomendasi kegiatan PGF 2016 c. 2 ABSTRAK Pada tahun 2016 Program Studi Fisika menyelenggarakan kegiatan pengabdian Pelatihan Guru Fisika (PGF) berbasis perkembangan IPTEK dengan memusatkan perhatian pada bidang 'Energi Terbarukan (Renewable Energy)'. Dalam perkembangan IPTEK, pemahaman mengenai konsep dasar energi, konservasi energi, dan sumber energi alternatif, diperlukan dalam rangka memberikan pengetahuan yang lebih luas kepada peserta didik, untuk dapat menghasilkan inovasi-inovasi yang bermanfaat. Wawasan mengenai energi terbanlkan sangat penting untuk dapat mengembangkan kreatifitas saat proses pembelajaran, sehingga proses belajar fisika menjadi lebih menarik. Dalam PGF 2016, para guru diajak untuk ber-inovasi, dengan materi pelatihan yang inovatif meliputi konsep dasar energi, perakitan alat peraga, dan wawasan mengenai sumber energi terbarukan masa depan, agar mereka terbantu dalam menyiapkan para siswa menghadapi tantangan masa depannya. Materi dalam pelatihan ini meliputi: kaitan energi terbarukan dengan mekanika dan termodinamika oleh Dr Aloysius Rusli, perakitan alat mengenai energi terbarukan (Turbin Savonius dan Thermo Electric Generator) dan praktek penggunaan alat peraga energi terbarukan oleh oleh Janto V. Sulungbudi, S.Si, wawasan mengenai Lubang hitam sebagai sumber energi oleh Dr. Haryanto M. Siahaan, serta wawasan mengenai energi terbarukan di Indonesia oleh Niamul Huda, ST., M.Pd. Para peserta juga berkesempatan membagikan wawasan tentang energi terbarukan yang ditemui di lingkungan sekitarnya dalam media fotografi. Secara keseluruhan Pelatihan Guru Fisika 2016 berjalan cukup Iancar dan sukses. Berdasarkan masukan dalam angket yang dibagikan kepada para peserta, banyak yang menginginkan untuk diadakan PGF selanjutnya dengan tema lain yang lebih menarik. Dari angket tersebut muncul usulan tema yang cukup beragam, yang akan menjadi bahan pertimbangan penyelenggaraan PGF selanjutnya. 3 Bab 1. Pd. .. _.. ____ L__ SMP Taruna Bakti Dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan ini terdapat mitra lain yaitu pihak sponsor yang turut mendukung acara PGF 2016 yaitu PT Pudak Scientific yang merupakan produsen alat-alat peraga pendidikan dari tingkat SD­ Perguruan Tinggi, dimana turut berpartisipasi dengan menyediakan tempat pelatihan dan semua kebutuhan untuk alat peraga bagi para peserta pada hari kedua. PGF 2016 juga didukung oleh Dinas Provinsi Jaw a Barat yang memberikan dukungan berupa surat rekomendasi kepada sekolah-sekolah untuk mengikuti Pelatihan Guru Fisika 2016, dan perwakilan dari Dinas Provinsi Jawa Barat turut hadir memberikan sambutan dalam acara pembukaan PGF 2106. Bab 2. Persoalan Mitra Kegiatan Sejak Pemerintah Indonesia melalui Departemen Pendidikan Nasional menetapkan pelaksanaan Kurikulum Berbasis Kompetensi (KBK) pada tahun 2004, banyak guru termasuk guru fisika harus meninggalkan pola mengajar yang telah digunakan selama bertahun-tahun, dan mulai menyusun pola baru yang dapat lebih baik dalam menghasilkan perolehan kompetensi dalam ilmu mau pun sikap belajar dan sikap hidup. Akan tetapi karena kurang ada petunjuk pelaksanaannya, banyak guru terbingungkan. Di sam ping itu juga mulai disadari bahwa tidak ada cara membelajarkan yang tunggal dalam bidang-bidang yang berbeda. Setiap cara membelajarkan perlu disesuaikan dengan bidang yang dibelajarkan, keadaan siswa, dan keadaan sekolah, masyarakat, dan sebagainya. Perkembangan IPTEK yang sangat cepat, terutama di bidang ilmu fisika, membuat para guru dituntut untuk memiliki wawasan dan kreatifitas yang tinggi untuk mata pelajaran yang diajarkannya. Dengan demikian kualitas pembelajaran diharapkan dapat tercermin dari kualitas guru. Untuk meningkatkan kualitas guru di bidangnya, diupayakan berbagai pelatihan baik dari pemerintah maupun pihak swasta pemerhati pendidikan, namun pelatihan yang terkait untuk mengatasi hal tersebut masih minim, dan terbatas untuk topik-topik yang bersifat general. Pelatihan guru berbasis perkembangan IPTEK merupakan solusi yang tepat untuk mengatasi permasalahan di atas. Namun bila para dosen yang harus terjun langsung datang ke sekolah-sekolah, itu akan memakan waktu dan biaya yang cukup tinggi. Untuk itu pelatihan hendaknya bersifat terpusat dalam arti mengumpulkan para guru seluruh indonesia dalam suatu tempat untuk diberi pelatihan dalam waktu yang telah ditentukan. Despite their apparent differences, it turns out that there is a correspondence between the two. Introduction Whenever two very different areas of theoretical physics are found to share the same mathematics, it frequently leads to new insights on both sides. Bekenstein-Hawking entropy Every object, such as a star, has a critical size determined by its mass, which is called the Schwarzschild radius. A black hole is any object smaller than this. Once something falls inside the Schwarzschild radius, it can never escape. This boundary in spacetime is called the event horizon. So the classical picture of a black hole is that of a compact object whose gravitational field is so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape. Yet in 1974 Stephen Hawking showed that quantum black holes are not entirely black but may radiate energy, due to quantum mechanical effects in curved spacetime. Heinrich [email protected] October 31, 2018 Abstract Despite the success of modern physics in formulating mathematical theories that can predict the outcome of experiments, we have made remarkably little progress towards answering the most fundamental question of: why is there a universe at all, as opposed to nothingness? In this paper, it is shown that this seemingly mind-boggling question has a simple logical answer if we accept that existence in the universe is nothing more than mathematical existence relative to the axioms of our universe. This premise is not baseless; it is shown here that there are indeed several independent strong logical arguments for why we should believe that mathematical existence is the only kind of existence. Moreover, it is shown that, under this premise, the answers to many other puzzling questions about our universe come almost immediately. Among these questions are: why is the universe apparently fine-tuned to be able to support life? Why are the laws of physics so elegant? Why do we have three dimensions of space and one of time, with approximate locality and causality at macroscopic scales? How can the universe be non-local and non-causal at the quantum scale?     Quantum Gravity: A Primer for Philosophers∗ Dean Rickles ‘Quantum Gravity’ does not denote any existing theory: the field of quantum gravity is very much a ‘work in progress’. As you will see in this chapter, there are multiple lines of attack each with the same core goal: to find a theory that unifies, in some sense, general relativity (Einstein’s classical field theory of gravitation) and quantum field theory (the theoretical framework through which we understand the behaviour of particles in non-gravitational fields). Quantum field theory and general relativity seem to be like oil and water, they don’t like to mix—it is fair to say that combining them to produce a theory of quantum gravity constitutes the greatest unresolved puzzle in physics. Our goal in this chapter is to give the reader an impression of what the problem of quantum gravity is; why it is an important problem; the ways that have been suggested to resolve it; and what philosophical issues these approaches, and the problem itself, generate. This review is extremely selective, as it has to be to remain a manageable size: generally, rather than going into great detail in some area, we highlight the key features and the options, in the hope that readers may take up the problem for themselves—however, some of the basic formalism will be introduced so that the reader is able to enter the physics and (what little there is of) the philosophy of physics literature prepared.1 I have also supplied references for those cases where I have omitted some important facts.

Bekenstein∗ During the past three decades investigators have unveiled a number of deep connections between physical information and black holes whose consequences for ordinary systems go beyond what has been deduced purely from the axioms of information theory. After a self-contained introduction to black hole thermodynamics, we review from its vantage point topics such as the information conundrum that emerges from the ability of incipient black holes to radiate, the various entropy bounds for non-black hole systems (holographic bound, universal entropy bound, etc) which are most easily derived from black hole thermodynamics, Bousso’s covariant entropy bound, the holo- graphic principle of particle physics, and the subject of channel capacity of quantum communication channels.     Partons and Black Holes Leonard Susskind Physics Department, Stanford University Stanford, California, 94309 Paul Griffin Physics Department, University of Florida Gainesville, Florida, 32611 Abstract A light-front renormalization group analysis is applied to study matter which falls into mas- sive black holes, and the related problem of matter with transplankian energies. One finds that the rate of matter spreading over the black hole’s horizon unexpectedly saturates the causal- ity bound. This is related to the transverse growth behavior of transplankian particles as their longitudinal momentum increases. This growth behavior suggests a natural mechanism to im- plement ’t Hooft’s scenario that the universe is an image of data stored on a 2 + 1 dimensional hologram-like projection. 1. Introduction In thinking about quantum gravity, and the problems of black holes, the relativity commu- nity’s paradigm is basically free quantum field theory in a background geometry. But the more you spend time trying to understand what is happening near the horizon of a black hole, the less free field quantum theory seems to make sense. Instead, you find yourself forced back to the kind of thinking that we’re talking about here at this workshop – partons, light-fronts, and simple qualitative pictures of what happens when particles are at very high energies. This is a way of thinking which was popular in particle physics twenty years ago, and which has become the way of thinking for the group of people in the light-front community, a qualitative pictorial way of thinking about the constituents of matter, in situations where one is forced to think about cutoffs, and about what happens as you move the cutoffs around, uncovering more degrees of freedom of the system, fluctuating at higher frequencies and smaller distances.

March 3, 2021 Abstract This paper comprehensively explores Stephen Hawking’s interaction with Jacob Bekenstein. Both Hawking and Bekenstein benefited from the interaction with each other. It is shown that Hawking’s interaction with Bekenstein drove him to solve the problems in Bekenstein’s black hole thermodynamics in terms of a new thermal radiation mechanism. Hawking argued that Bekenstein’s thermodynamics of black holes was riddled with problems. In trying to solve these problems, Hawking cut the Gordian knot with a single stroke: black holes emit thermal radiation. Hawking derived the thermal radiation using a semi-classical approxima- tion in which the matter fields are treated quantum mechanically on a classical space-time background. Hawking’s semi-classical approximation yielded a simple formula for the entropy of the black hole, which turned out to be equivalent to Bekenstein’s equation for entropy. 1 Preface This paper comprehensively explores Stephen Hawking’s interaction with Jacob Bekenstein. I show in this paper that both Hawking and Bekenstein benefited from the interaction with each other.
