USA TODAY Life Section D Tuesday, November 22, 2005 Cover Story: http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2005-11-21-huffman_x.htm Felicity Huffman is sitting pretty: Emmy-winning Housewives star ignites Oscar talk for transsexual role By William Keck, USA TODAY By Dan MacMedan, USA TODAY Has it all: An actress for more than twenty years, Felicity Huffman has an Emmy for her role on hit Desperate Housewives, a critically lauded role in the film Transamerica, a famous husband (William H. Macy) and two daughters. 2 WEST HOLLYWOOD Felicity Huffman is on a wild ride. Her ABC show, Desperate Housewives, became hot, hot, hot last season and hasn't lost much steam. She won the Emmy in September over two of her Housewives co-stars. And now she is getting not just critical praise, but also Oscar talk, for her performance in the upcoming film Transamerica, in which she plays Sabrina "Bree" Osbourne, a pre- operative man-to-woman transsexual. After more than 20 years as an actress, this happily married, 42-year-old mother of two is today's "it" girl. "It couldn't happen to a nicer gal," says Housewives creator Marc Cherry. "Felicity is one of those success stories that was waiting to happen." Huffman has enjoyed the kindness of critics before, particularly for her role on Sports Night, an ABC sitcom in the late '90s. And Cherry points out that her stock in Hollywood has been high. "She has always had the respect of this entire industry," he says. But that's nothing like having a hit show and a movie with awards potential, albeit a modestly budgeted, art house-style film. -

59th Primetime Emmys Winners Revealed Sopranos, 30 Rock Take Top Series Honors September 16, 2007—A notorious crime family, a fictional sketch-comedy show, an iconic singer and a female British detective were among the big winners at the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards, which took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and was telecast on the Fox network. Host for the ceremony was American Idol host Ryan Seacrest. Other highlights included a 30th anniversary tribute to a groundbreaking miniseries and a moving musical send-off to one of the most celebrated series in television history. Among the twenty-nine categories honored, NBC topped the list with seven wins. ABC and HBO followed closely with six winged statuettes each. Combined with their awards at last Saturday’s Creative Arts Emmys, the three networks led for the year as well: HBO earned twenty-one, NBC nineteen and ABC ten. CBS, which won one award on the night, also earned a total of ten between the two shows. The Sopranos, HBO’s acclaimed production about the travails of a New Jersey Mob boss and his intertwined biological and criminal families, took the prize for Outstanding Drama Series, and 30 Rock, NBC’s look at the backstage activity at a late-night sketch- comedy show, was named Outstanding Comedy Series. The ABC comedy Ugly Betty took two, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for its star, America Ferrera. -

Teri Hatcher Struggles with Pain on the Path to Happiness
Teri Hatcher Struggles with Pain on the Path to Happiness Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher has had a year full of medical problems, including broken ribs and a “frozen shoulder,” but as she told Prevention in their June issue, it’s not slowing her down in finding love and happiness. Hatcher’s medical problems began when she turned 45 after she cracked two ribs falling off a ladder while helping build a stage for her daughter’s birthday party. Then, while filming ABC’s hit reality show Desperate Housewives, she broke another two ribs while pole dancing. But all of these maladies have taken a backseat to her “frozen shoulder.” Frozen shoulder, medically referred to as adhesive capsulitis, causes stiffness and chronic pain in the shoulder area and greatly restricts movement of the arm. It’s sometimes associated with perimenopause (which Hatcher has stated that she does not have), and is found in women between the ages of 45 and 55. The disease lasts for about two years, and then, just like magic, disappears. “It doesn’t even sound like a real disease, but it’s debilitating,” Hatcher told Prevention. At her lowest point, Hatcher was found sobbing in her closet because putting her clothes caused too much pain. She has gone to three doctors to help her with her shoulder trying many different treatments, including reflexology, raw food, physical therapy and extra strength Advil. But sadly, she has not found lasting relief from the constant pain. However, despite going through a rough year, the actress is still trying to find romance. -
