One of the world’s most popular and iconic stars of stage and screen, Pacino receives a BFI Fellowship in recognition of his outstanding achievement in film. The presentation was made this evening during an exclusive dinner hosted by BFI Chair, Greg Dyke and BFI CEO, Amanda Nevill, sponsored by Corinthia Hotel London and supported by Moët & Chandon, the official champagne partner of the Al Pacino BFI Fellowship Award Dinner. Speaking during the presentation, Al Pacino said: “This is such a great honour... the BFI is a wonderful thing, how it keeps films alive… it’s an honour to be here and receive this. I’m overwhelmed – people I’ve adored have received this award. Interviewer’s comments: None Abstract: Opera critic/writer and Theatre board member, Rupert Christiansen first came the Theatre in 1972. He was a regular audience member whilst a student at Kings College, Cambridge and shares memories of the Theatre in the 1970s. Christiansen’s association was rekindled in the 1990s when he was employed to author a commemorative book about the Theatre. He talks about the research process and reflects on the redevelopment that took place at this time. He concludes by explaining how he came to join the Theatre’s board.     PINEWOOD GIVES FREE BFI MEMBERSHIP TO ALL OF ITS STAFF TO HONOUR STUDIO’S 80TH YEAR London, 30th September 2016: Pinewood Studios has long been regarded as a jewel in the crown of the UK’s rich film heritage and as the iconic studio celebrates the start of its 80th anniversary year, it was announced today that all full-time staff across the group will receive free membership to the BFI to honour the date.
