Aanleiding Rotterdam kent een levendig popklimaat. Toch klinkt in publieke discussies, in (lokale) media en in de politiek met regelmaat de roep om een nieuw Rotterdams poppodium: het is voor menigeen een grote wens. In oktober 2014 heeft de gemeente initiatiefnemers opgeroepen plannen in te dienen voor een poppodium. In de oproep aan de stad, stelt de gemeente het volgende: “Een poppodium met een (boven)regionale uitstraling ontbreekt op dit moment in de bestaande infrastructuur. Rotterdam heeft nu geen continu aanbod van (inter)nationaal bekende bands en mist binnen de bestaande podiuminfrastructuur voor popmuziek een doorgroeimogelijkheid voor (lokale) bands.”1 2. Procedure De wethouder Financiën, Binnenstad, Cultuur en Sport heeft de RRKC gevraagd de ingediende plannen te beoordelen (zie bijlage 1). Voor de beoordeling geeft hij een aantal criteria en voorwaarden mee. Deze hebben betrekking op de inhoudelijke en organisatorische aspecten van de ingediende plannen en de businesscase. De voorgestelde procedure bestaat uit twee fasen. In de eerste fase selecteert de RRKC de (maximaal) drie beste plannen. In de tweede fase krijgen deze initiatiefnemers vervolgens met een budget de gelegenheid hun plannen door te rekenen of bijvoorbeeld aanvullend (akoestisch) onderzoek te doen. -

ONDERNEMINGSPLAN Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw 2017-2020 1. Korte typering van de organisatie JOC – breed, gedifferentieerd aanbod, groot publiek Het Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw (JOC) is de beste en meeste swingende bigband van Nederland. Het orkest heeft een eigen perspectief op de Amerikaanse bigbandtraditie, een sterke eigen identiteit en een open blik naar het heden en de toekomst. Leidraad is JOC connects through jazz. Naar onze overtuiging is bigbandmuziek verrijkend voor een breed publiek. Ons groeiend aantal bezoekers onderschrijft dit, zowel onder de algemene liefhebbers als de hardcore jazzkenners. JOC – Amsterdam, Nederland, internationaal Het JOC (1996) heeft een prominente plek in de Nederlandse jazzwereld en cultuurbestel. Hordes publiek vrij zappend tussen de locaties; van kapperszaak, tattooshop, ijzerhandel tot kerk, kroeg en club; Voor Stichting Popwaarts was duidelijk, binnen de anderhalve meter samenleving is het vertrouwde Popronde concept niet uitvoerbaar. In maart 2020 ging Nederland – en de rest van de wereld – op slot en nu, een jaar later is het eind daarvan nog niet in zicht. In dit verslag kijken we terug, belichten we wat we wel hebben gedaan, wat goed is gegaan en kijken we vooruit naar de Popronde 2020 inhaaleditie – de Popronde Tiendaagse - eind april / begin mei 2021. Het laatste antwoord op de maatregelen, het uiterste scenario dat we uit de hoge hoed toveren. -

Zo kan het artistieke jaar van philharmonie zuidnederland worden samengevat. Aan de hand van het businessplan Verder Ontwikkelen 2017–2021 stelde het orkest zich ten doel zich te manifesteren als een onmisbare schakel in het culturele leven in Zuid-Nederland. Een hoge artistieke kwaliteit, een constante drang naar innovatie en het bieden van een rijkgeschakeerde educatie waren de speerpunten die horen bij deze culturele topinstelling. In het concertseizoen 2018–2019 vierde het orkest haar eerste lustrum: philharmonie zuid- nederland bestaat vijf jaar. -

The success of our events and the consistent and continuous support for festivals by means of a support model that is a source of inspiration for many other cities make us an important candidate for the IFEA Festival and Event City Award. The world changes, audiences change and it is useful to occasionally look closely at the direction. We recently did this again and documented our conclusions in a new vision that gives a boost to the development from a national to an international festival city, which was started a number of years ago. In the development of this vision we have gratefully used the input from the international and fraternal network that is IFEA.
