LEARN ECONOMICS FROM NOBEL LAUREATES
The I.S.E.O international Summer School aims at bringing to- gether a large number of graduate students coming from the most important international universities to improve their knowledge in economics. Classes will be held by 3 Nobel Laureates for Economic Sci- ences ( Robert Engle, James Mirrlees and Michael Spence) and well-known economists. R.SOLOW AT ISEO SUMMERSCHOOL2008 The I.S.E.O. Summer School deepens several aspects of global economy , investigating the role of different Countries in the M.SPENCE AT ISEO SUMMERSCHOOL 2009 international economic scenario. Every year it focuses on topi- cal themes, such as the changing structure of global economy, advanced and emerging markets, the strategies and instru- ments of monetary policy, the structure and mechanisms of the financial sector, with a particular focus on growth, the wel- fare state and unemployment. Every lesson includes a theoretical lecture and an open debate between the participants and the speakers on the discussed topics. Classes take place in a hotel conference center in Iseo , Brescia G.AKERLOF AT ISEO SUMMERSCHOOL 2010 (Northern Italy ). The official language of the course is English . The Institute will organize some trips to some of the most beautiful corners of Northern Italy, such as Venice. At the end of the course students will also receive an attendance certifi- cate. The atmosphere of the Summer School is really stimulating : participants have the chance to meet and discuss with col- leagues coming from all over the world and, in addition, they can share free time with the speakers and the Nobels. W.SHARPE AT ISEO SUMMERSCHOOL 2009 APPLICATION, DEADLINE AND FEE Young graduates (Master and Phd) will be selected. Criteria for admission to the Summer School are based on curriculum vi- tae and students’ motivation. In order to apply, students have to fill in an application form downloadable from the website www.istiseo.org . The application form should be sent via email together with a personal cv and a picture by the 21 st April 2014 to the Sum- mer School Secretariat: [email protected] . Early ap- plication is highly encouraged since enrolment is limited. TOWN OF ISEO, ITALY TOWN OF ISEO The fee amounts to €€€ 2.500,00 and shall have to be paid by 9th May 2014 . The fee includes: the course, full boarding staying in a 4star hotel (breakfast, lunch and dinner are in- cluded), trips and local transportation. Personal expenses and any other expense not expressly stated are not included. Accomodation will be in double or triple room. SCHOLARSHIPS I.S.E.O Institute awards some talented students with scholar- ships amounting to €€€ 1,500.00 . Therefore awarded students shall have to pay just the remaining € 1.000,00. Applying for this scholarship is really easy: the application to the course automatically involves the request for the scholar- ship. ABOUT THE I.S.E.O INSTITUTE ISEO Institute (Institute for Studies on Economics and Em- ployment) is a non profit association based in Northern Italy and founded in 1998 by Nobel Laureate in Economics Franco Modigliani . It has the same name of the town “Iseo” where it is located. Upon Franco’s death, Prof. Robert Solow ( Nobel laureate in Economics 1987) became the new Chairman of the I.S.E.O Insti- tute. Over the last 14 years, I.S.E.O has organized 41 international conferences and meetings that were attended by 30 Nobel Lau- reates in Economic Sciences and eminent economists from all over the world. In 2004 I.S.E.O had its first edition of the inter- national Summer School. Since that year the association has ISEO SUMMERSCHOOL 2006 organized 9 Summer Schools, bringing to Italy 561 students coming from more than 90 different Countries and 232 universi- ISEO SUMMERSCHOOL 2009 ties in the world.
