Key words: Pieridae, nymphalidae, lycaenidae, mongolian altai, fauna Introduction Butterflies of Western mongolia have been studied previously in detail by korshunov & Soljanikov (1976) and korshunov (1977). in recent years, the butterfly fauna has been summarised in series of works with our participation by tshikolovets et al., 2009 and Yakovlev (2012). Some additions were published later by krupitsky & Yakovlev (2012) and Yakovlev & Černila (2012). during our last expeditions to Western mongolia several previously unrecorded species of butterfly were found and are reported here. all the specimens are deposited in the private collection of the first author. New records Pieris brassicae (linnaeus, 1758) (Fig. 1) Material examined. 1 female, SW mongolia, khovd aimak (= province), 30 km S altai somon, Bodonchijn-Gol river valley (adjacent to the river), elkhony-ekhen-tal place, 1200 m, 45°43′ n; 92°05′ e; 7.06.2011, leg. R. Yakovlev. 1 male, 1 female, SW mongolia, Govi-altai aimak, 62 km SSe Bugat, n slope of adzh-Bogdo Range, Zoolon-Suuzhijn-Bulag spring, 45°05′25″, 94°48′05″, 1350 m, 28.06.2017, R. V. Yakovlev & V. Rudoj leg. Previously known only from three localities in northern mongolia: terelj and erdene sum (töv aimak) and tzenker jiguur (arhangai aimak) (Yazaki, 2004).
