Politics Business Science Sport Roses Freshers Twin Atlantic announced as Summer Ball headliners Twin Atlantic, Vintage Trouble and MNEK have been added to this year’s Summer Ball lineup By Rosie Shields, Editor (2013/14) Monday 19 May 2014 Alternative rock band Twin Atlantic have been announced as a headline act for the 2014 Summer Ball alongside Vintage Trouble and MNEK. Twin Atlantic, who are currently on tour, will be the main act of the night. The Glaswegian band are perhaps best known for their songs ‘Free’ and ‘Make a Beast of Myself’. The quartet are due to play Radio One’s Big Weekend this weekend. They will also be playing at T in the Park and Reading and Leeds Festival this summer before the release of their new album ‘Great Divide’ in August. They have previously performed at Sonisphere, Download, and Guilfest. Their first album, ‘A Guidance From Colour’, was released in 2007, and they performed as a support act for Biffy Clyro and the Smashing Pumpkins in 2008. Since then, they have toured with Blink-182, The Gaslight Anthem, My Chemical Romance, The All American Rejects and Thirty Seconds to Mars. Vintage Trouble, an American blues rock band, have previously beaten Rihanna and the cast of Glee to claim the number five spot on Amazon’s UK best selling digital album list. They have also appeared on various TV shows including Later…with Jools Holland which led to them trending on Twitter. The band are probably best known for their songs ‘Run like the River’ and ‘Pelvis Pusher’. The third Summer Ball act announced this evening is MNEK, a 19 year old singer best known for his vocals on this year’s hit ‘Ready for Your Love’ by Gorgon City. He has previously collaborated with Sub Focus, Clean Bandit, and Rudimental, and been nominated for a Grammy. He has written tracks for The Saturdays, Kylie Minogue, and Little Mix, and has remixed songs by Olly Murs, Bastille and Tinie Tempah. These acts will perform alongside Kyla La Grange and The Gilchrists as the official Summer Ball lineup. Tickets are available to purchase online from the YUSU website. 2 comments Disappointed 19 May ’14 at 11:48 pm Feeder in 2012, Tinchy Stryder in 2013… What the heck is this? Not impressed.
