Players from Baker, Saint Francis (IN) lead College Football America Yearbook’s NAIA Starting Lineup FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Kendall Webb; 615-631-7481; [email protected] Or Matthew Postins; 940-594-1551; [email protected] or [email protected] Defending NAIA national champion Saint Francis (IN) and the team it defeated in the title game, Baker, dominate the College Football America 2017 Yearbook NAIA Starting Lineup, CFA’s version of an All- America team. Baker, hoping to make a return trip to the title game after last year’s 38-17 defeat to Saint Francis (IN), has four players on the Starting Lineup. Quarterback Logan Brettell was the triggerman for a Wildcats offense that was No. 1 in passing offense in 2016. Brettell threw for 5,073 yards and 52 touchdowns in 15 games. Two of his best targets return for 2017. Wide receiver/running back Cornell Brown rushed for 1,418 yards and scored 24 touchdowns, while leading the Wildcats with 95 receptions, including 851 yards and 7 touchdowns. Wide receiver Clarence Clark led the team had 73 receptions for 1,061 yards and 8 touchdowns, and is one of NAIA’s top returning wide receivers. On defense, Josh Kock made the squad as a defensive lineman after a 2016 with 11.5 sacks, 17 tackles for loss and 72 total tackles. Saint Francis (IN) won its first national title last year and returns three key members of that team. Running back Justin Green rushed for 1,367 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2016. Defensively, linebacker Piercen Harnish led the Cougars with 130 tackles, including 3 sacks and an interception. Defensive lineman Eric Hemmelgarn is the third selection as he led the Cougars from the interior in 2016 with 63 tackles, 11 sacks and a national-best 25.5 tackles for loss. Three programs landed two players each on the Starting Lineup. Warner had offensive lineman Dajshon Oliver and defensive lineman Drew Clark selected. Lindsey Wilson’s Tony Brackins made it as a defensive back and Allen Cooks made it as the punt returner. Dickinson State landed linebacker Thomas Sease and defensive back Cain Boschee on the squad. Eighteen NAIA programs had at least one player selected to this year’s Starting Lineup. Seven Starting Lineup selections earned First-Team AFCA All-America selection last year — Brettell, Oliver, Friends offensive lineman Mitch Butterfield, Reinhardt offensive lineman Xavier Carter, Saint Xavier offensive lineman Justin Hunter, Tabor defensive lineman Evan Sprayberry and Campbellsville placekicker Bradley Bates. Clark, Butterfield and Cooks are the only returning CFA Starting Lineup members from the 2016 preseason team. The College Football America 2017 Yearbook features more than 930 college football teams from the United States and Canada over the course of more than 300 striking, full-color pages.
