FRANCHISE BEST FROM THE STRIPE: Detroit set a franchise record with its fifth consecutive game (Jan. 3 to Jan. 10) shooting at least .850 from the free-throw line after going 18-of-21 (.857) from the charity stripe vs. Utah on Jan. 10. The two times the Pistons had four-straight such games in the 1974-75 (Feb. 26 to Mar. 2, 1975) and 1985-86 (Mar. 25 to Apr. 1, 1986) campaigns.

COMEBACK CITY: The Pistons win after trailing by 23 points (31-54 with 6:09 remaining in second quarter) vs. Phoenix on Jan. 8 is the team's largest comeback victory since at least 1996-97 (as far back as play-by-play data goes).

PUTTING THE CLAMPS DOWN: In the Pistons win over the Celtics on Jan. 1, Detroit held Boston scoreless over the last 4:14 of the contest and went on an 8- 0 run to end the game to help preserve the win. Detroit trailed 88-93 before taking over defensively and keeping Boston off the scoreboard.

LONG TIME COMING: The two-game set vs. Boston from Jan. 1-3 marked the first time the Pistons played in consecutive regular season home games against the same opponent since March 11-12, 1974 vs. Golden State.

NEW FACES: The Pistons returned four players from a season ago to open the 2020-21 season: Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose, Svi Mykhailiuk and Sekou Doumbouya. This season also marks the first since 1979-80 that the Pistons have three rookie first-round picks (Hayes, Bey, Stewart) suiting up since 1979-80 (Greg Kelser, Roy , Phil Hubbard).

DWANE CASEY HEAD COACH OVERALL RECORD: 454-446 (.504) RECORD WITH DETROIT: 81-139 (.368) SEASONS IN LEAGUE: 12 th SEASONS WITH DETROIT: Third

Dwane Casey was named head coach of the Detroit Pistons on June 11, 2018 after seven years at the helm with the . Casey came to Detroit after being named 2018 Coach of the Year by the National Basketball Coaches Association (NBCA) and being honored as the 2018 NBA Coach of the Year as voted upon by national media covering the NBA.

In his first season with the Pistons, Casey led Detroit back to the postseason for the first time since 2016 with a 41-41 record. The 41 wins marked the second most by the franchise in a decade while 26 home wins tied for the most in the previous decade as well. Under Casey’s tutelage, the Pisto ns set a franchise record in 3-pointers made (993) and attempted (2,854) and made 20 3-pointers in three games. The 20 threes marked the second-most by a Pistons team in a game. Casey’s offense allowed for a franchise record five Pistons to record 100-plus 3-pointers on the season with each connecting on a single-season career-high [Blake Griffin (189), Reggie Jackson (174), (135), (114) and Luke Kennard (106)]. Detroit also averaged 107.0 points per game which were the most by a Pistons team since 1987- 88. Both Griffin (24.5 ppg) and Andre Drummond (17.3 ppg) flourished in Casey’s offe nse resulting in career-high scoring marks and a return to the All- game by Griffin. Additionally, the Pistons’ defense ranked seventh in points allowed and ninth in 3 -point percentage (.345).

An injury-plagued 2019-20 season saw the Pistons finish 20-46 in the COVID-19-shortened season. Several key players including Griffin (18 games played), Jackson (14 games played) and Luke Kennard (28 games played) missed significant time due to injuries. Drummond was traded to the on February 6 while the organization and Jackson reached an agreement on February 18 on a buyout.

Casey’s development work with young players was once again evident in the play of Christian Wood, Bruce Brown and Svi Mykhail iuk. In a career-high 62 games, Wood averaged 13.1 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting a career-best 57% from the field. He averaged 22.8 points and 9.9 rebounds in 13 games since the Drummond trade.
