Editorial Holiday Happiness: How to grow from disagreements

Getting along with relatives during the holiday season can be frustrating, but it is important students remember to be open minded and kind. While the holidays are meant for being joyful, many families fnd themselves fghting and arguing during the time they are together. Not only is this unfair to any bystanders, but it also puts a damper on any holiday spirit. With any issue, it is important to take a step back and evaluate the situation in a calm state prior to saying something that could interfere with the growth of a relationship. By handling arguments in a calm state of mind, one can not only achieve a stronger bond with that person, but a sense of self improvement as well. The word “kind” tends to be very broad due to the fact that it is up for interpretation. While it is easy to say ‘be open minded and kind,’ following through with this can be diffcult when put in a situation where you believe you are right. It’s easy to want to lash out and United we stand, divided we fall prove your point when faced with an argument.
