Staff encouaged to Get On their bikes for Ride to Work Day Submitted by: Carole Nash Tuesday, 14 June 2011

Staff at an Altrincham firm are all set to be to be taken for a ride this Monday (June 20th)! To mark international Ride To Work Day motorcycle insurance (http://www.carolenash.com) specialist Carole Nash has arranged free bike training sessions for workers at its Manchester Road headquarters. Qualified instructors from the motorcycle industry’s Get On campaign will teach biking basics such as using the throttle and gears whilst giving them first-hand experience of riding. The company is converting its car park into a secure training area for the day so it can offer training sessions for up to 44 staff. It’s the latest move by the company to encourage its staff to take up biking so they can enjoy greater affinity with customers. It already provides free training and covers test fees for any member of staff who wants to complete biking’s Compulsory Basic Training course or take the full motorcycle test. Over 120 workers have done just that with others, like commercial director Simon Jackson, having already gained their bike certificate before joining the company. “Carole Nash is an enthusiastic supporter of both the Get On and Ride to Work campaigns,” said Mr. Jackson. “Our social committee came up with the idea of bringing the two together and management were more than happy to help make it happen. Ride to Work Day is great way of highlighting biking’s many benefits such as considerable time and costs savings and the satisfying experience of beating ever increasing congestion. Get On is similarly brilliant as it provides people right across the country with the opportunity to get a taste of what biking’s all about, totally free, in a safe environment and supported by expert instructors.” Carole Nash (http://www.carolenash.com) - which is the UK’s biggest motorcycle insurance specialist with over 300,000 bikes on its books – hopes its initiative will encourage other businesses to promote motorcycling. “There’s a strong business case to be made for biking because it enables staff to be more punctual and productive, getting to work and meetings more swiftly as they don’t need get caught in traffic hold ups. A company motorcycle will also be cheaper to buy, fuel and insure than a car and carry a significantly lower tax burden for both employer and employee. Ride to Work Day is being marked by a range of events nationwide with celebrities set to lead the way. They include TV presenter and contestant, Gethin Jones. The Cardiff-born former Manchester Metropolitan University Student also backs the Get On Campaign. In April he joined star Shobna Gulati, , Jill Halfpenny and Oliver Mellor on as trip to Africa to highlight how vital motorcycles can be in delivering urgent medical aid and assistance. • For details of Ride To Work Day visit www.ridetoworkday.co.uk • For details of the Get On Campaign and how to book a free ride visit www.geton.co.uk Ends Editor’s Note: 1.
