Assistance for Seniors and Others Without Internet • Hanover Township – Hanover Township is happy to provide support to any senior who needs help registering for the vaccine over the phone or virtually. Our Social Services staff has already been helping people and are more than happy to assist others. If additional services are needed for non-Township residents, they may be referred to a more appropriate agency depending on the circumstance. The staff can be reached at 630-483-5660. • Wayne Township – The Wayne Township Senior Center has two computers available with internet access. Any senior who calls the township can arrange to use the computers or the township will assist them over the phone. Wayne Township Senior Center can be reached by calling 630-231-7155. • Bloomingdale Township – Bloomingdale Township is referring individuals to DuPage County Senior Services. Bloomingdale Township Senior Center has initiated a Waiting List for those wanting the vaccine (Call 630 529 7794). Provide the: name, age, phone number, and town of the interested party, and the Senior Center will include them to the waiting list. The Senior Center has not received vaccines but are preparing a wait-list for if-and-when they do. • Schaumburg Township- Residents who need information or assistance with vaccination appointments can contact the Schaumburg Township Senior Services department at (847) 884-0030. We can assist with resources, if resident needs assistance signing up with an account, or trying to access appointments in our area. Computer access will also be available on site if needed. We are hoping to partner again to provide a vaccination clinic event and are taking contact information of interested residents for any future events. The Township Transportation Services department will be adding the Des Plaines vaccination site to our available location, subject to transportation appointment availability. The TRIP program is a collaboration with PACE and 5 Townships to provide transportation to medical centers outside of our service areas. Cook County vaccination sites at CORE Medical Center and Stroger Hospital are included in these routes in addition to some Chicago area hospital providing their own vaccinations. Residents need to be registered with our transportation team and the TRIP program to be eligible. Residents should call 847-882-8158 for additional information or to register as a rider with Transportation Services. 6. Together, the retailers net upwards of $59.9 billion in sales yearly and employ 273,000 people. Albertsons is backed by private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management, and is one of the two most active acquirers in the U.S. grocery industry along with The Kroger Co. Post-merger, Albertsons and Safeway created a single, merged management team to better compete against segment leader Kroger and discount rivals such as Walmart. It’s divided into 14 retail divisions, with headquarters based in Phoenix, Boise, ID, and Pleasanton, CA. While division- level leadership is largely responsible for its own sales and profitability, the corporate team serves to deepen relationships with national vendors, set long term strategy and provide data insights to individual chains. The decentralized structure allows the company to combine the local presence of its banners (many of which have long-running operations) with its national scale in order to drive brand recognition, customer loyalty and purchasing, marketing and advertising, and distribution efficiencies. The stock deal was valued at $3.3 billion, including $100 million in cash and $3.2 billion in debt assumption. Operations for these banners transferred overnight, and the new Supervalu open for business March 22 in what the company has described as a more efficient wholesale and retail company with annual sales of approximately $17 billion. With the transaction complete, Supervalu now consists of three business units made up of Independent Business, a leading food wholesaler that serves nearly 2,000 stores across the country; Save-A-Lot, the largest hard discount grocery chain in the United States with more than 1,300 stores; and Supervalu's five regional retail banners: Cub, Farm Fresh, Shoppers, Shop 'n Save and Hornbacher's. ("Albertson’s") and American Stores Company ("American Stores") (collectively "the Proposed Respondents") an Agreement Containing Consent Order ("the proposed consent order").     Toxic Secret s Pesticides uncovered in store brand cereal, applesauce, beans and produce METHODS This project is a collaborative effort of environmental, farmer, farmworker, consumer and beekeeper groups across the country. The following organizations submitted food samples: Beyond Toxics, CATA-El Comite de Apoyo a Los Trabajadores Agricolas, Ecology Center, Environment Texas, Emory University Turner Environmental Law Clinic, Friends of the Earth, Grassroots Environmental Education, Maryland Pesticide Education Network, Northwest Center for Alternatives to Pesticides, Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association, People and Pollinators Action Network, Pesticide Action Network North America, Toxics Action Center and Toxic Free North Carolina. Retailers and locations Together, we shopped at 30 different stores in 15 states and we tested 132 samples of five different foods: apples, applesauce, spinach, oat cereal and pinto beans. We shopped at Walmart, Kroger, Costco and Albertsons/Safeway and their subsidiaries and we purchased house brand foods whenever possible. We only purchased non-organic (i.e., conventional) products. Samples were analyzed at Health Research Institute Laboratories. Oat cereal and pinto bean samples were tested for glyphosate. Apples, applesauce and spinach samples were tested for neonicotinoids.
