I was always impressed by Penny Rimbaud’s statement that the later Crass singles were issued as “tactical responses” to given situations. I started off writing and editing Fanzines, and it is only for reasons of my own that I decided to issue this magazine like Dear Friends, clockwork every Saturday, more recently every Friday. And so, what was planned to be an ordinary “ring in the old, ring out the new” (or is it But I think that the job of a magazine is a the other way round?) type issue has complex one, and I wouldn’t really like to completely gone out the window. The original Byrds: Clockwise from top left, Roger (neé Jim ) McGuinn, Gene Clark, Chris Hill man, Michael Clarke, and David Crosby. PERFORMERS The Byrds BY BUD S C O P P A I I WAS DYLAN MEETS THE BEATLES.” That’s Roger McGuinn’s succinct explanation of the Byrds’ bold, brainy take on rock & roll. True enough: What the Byrds pulled off with 1965’s landmark Mr. Tambourine Man Was a resonant synthesis of the Beatles’ charged pro forma precision and Dylan’s mytho- poeic incantations. It turned out to be a startlingly perfect fit, inspiring much that has followed, from their mentors’ subsequent Rubber Soul and Blonde On Blonde to the work of such disparate inheritors as Tom Petty, R.E.M., U2, and Crowded House. Mr. Tambourine Man was the first rock & roll album with group vocals, sounded both totally fresh and strangely in a message, the first made up entirely of anthems, the first to evitable, as did the shimmering Bo Diddley groove of “Don’t render sound and meaning inseparable, Byrds music was Doubt Yourself, Babe” and the eerie atmospherics of “Here such a departure that it got its own name— “folk-rock”-^ Without You.” But the linchpin of the album was its triumvi making the Byrds the first hybrid band. The jaggedly beauti rate of folk-rock extravaganzas: Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine ful sound of their 12-string electric guitars was said to have a Man” and “Chimes Of Freedom,” and Pete Seeger’s “The Bells “jingle jangle,” after the line in the Dylan-penned title song.

  • JJ Cale the Silent Master a Dreamlike Ride Through The
About this English translation: The book was written in German; my mother tongue, it is the only language I know as a writer, with all nuances. My story about J.J. Cale's music and his artistic career would of course have deserved a professional English translation - but unfortunately, as an independent musician and author, I really lack the necessary money for this. That's why I translated the book here for you with deepl.com - it is currently the best online translator worldwide. I have additionally enhanced the Deepl-translation, but my English is limited - the subtleties of my mother tongue are lost, partly also the humor, and there will be some mistakes in presentation (f.e. with some "-characters) and maybe also grammar errors here and there. So if you have the feeling that certain phrases don't make sense or sound strange - just think "the computer is inferior to humans" - or for my sake "they're crazy, these Swiss guys!" :-) I'm sure you as a J.J. Cale fan will understand and enjoy the story anyway, and maybe here and there you'll learn hitherto unknown details about the wonderful J.J. Cale and his immortal music. 1 1 2 REMEMBERING JOHN LENNON 2012 W/GUEST MICKY DOLENZ 9AM 2 3 The Beatles - In My Life - Rubber Soul (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocals: John with Paul Recorded October 18, 1965 and written primarily by John, who called it his “first real major piece of work.” Of all the Lennon-McCartney collaborations only two songs have really been disputed by John and Paul themselves -- “Eleanor Rigby” and “In My Life.” Both agree that the lyrics are 100% Lennon, but John says Paul helped on the musical 3 4 bridge, while Paul recalls writing the entire melody on John’s Mellotron. The gorgeous piano solo is provided by George Martin. To give his solo a harpsichord sound the producer played the piano at half speed and an octave lower so that when played at regular speed it would be in the correct key for the song. On U.S. album: Rubber Soul - Capitol LP The Beatles - Across The Universe - Let It Be (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: John Recorded February 8, 1968 for The World Wildlife Fund charity LP…Spike Milligan from the Goon Show. Prior to leaving for an extended trip to India to study Transcendental Meditation in early 1968, the Beatles recorded several new songs to fill the sides of their upcoming single, which would be released while they were away. John had originally wanted his new composition, “Across The Universe,” for the A-side of the single but was still not happy with the mix of the song. When the Beatles sat down to decide which two of their new recordings should be used, John preferred “Across the Universe” remain on the shelf for the time being, giving Paul’s more commercial “Lady Madonna” the A-side.

  • Los Angeles to Miasto Pełne Duchów. Wystarczy Przejażdżka Przez
Rozdział 1 Wiesz, gdzie jesteś? Los Angeles to miasto pełne duchów. The Roxy, The Rainbow Bar And Grill, The Whisky A Go-Go, The Troubadour, wszystkie wciąż stoją, ale żyją wspomnieniami wspólnej przeszłości, której dziś nie da się już odtworzyć. Speluny pokroju Coconut Teaszer i Gazzari’s dawno zniknęły. Budynki wytwórni Capitol Records i Geffen Records – dziś pomniki padającego przemysłu.
