Albany Public Library- Delaware Branch StoryWalk™ location: Hoffman Park, 7 Hoffman Ave. Park near the Foley Field Sign on Hoffman Ave. The Storywalk™ follows the sidewalk into the playground area. Library website: Albany Public Library StoryWalk™hours: 8am to 8pm Library unique features: The Delaware Trolley Tree Sculpture! Our Spanish language collections, youth and adult. Three quiet study rooms. Our building was formerly a funeral home! It was designed in the Frank Lloyd Wright-style by Albany architect Harris Sanders, who brought Nipper to the Albany skyline. Local food: Delaware Ave. is known for great eats -- Cardona's Italian Deli, La Empanada Llama Peruvian cuisine, and Emack & Bolio's ice cream parlor, to name just a few!

Albany Public Library-Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch StoryWalk™ location: Black Lives Matter Parl, 484 Livingston Avenue. StoryWalk™hours: 8am to 8pm Library website: Albany Public Library Library unique features: Come see our award winning silver LEED-certified building! It’s energy efficient and sustainably constructed with cost effective “green” systems. The branch also features a soaring front atrium with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of the neighborhood. Local food: Allie B's Cozy Kitchen and Roy's Caribbean Restaurant, just down the street on Henry Johnson Blvd.

Altamont Free Library Library StoryWalk™ location: Schilling Park on Maple Avenue, Altamont StoryWalk™hours (all): Dawn till dusk Library website: Altamont Free Library Library unique features: We're housed in the renovated 1897 Altamont Train Station. Many features of the train station remain, including the original ticket window, etched with the "D&H" logo of the Delaware and Hudson Rail Line. Through the summer and early fall, we host a farmers market several days of the week. While you're in town, check out the Altamont Museum in the Streets, a self-guided walking tour of some of the notable features of this unique and historic village. Brochures to guide you can be picked up at the library. Local food: Paizano's and Village Pizza for a quick slice, Hungerford Market for bagels and sandwiches, and Curry Patta for excellent Pakistani food.

Bethlehem Public Library StoryWalk™ locations: 1. Bethlehem Public Library, 451 Delaware Ave, Delmar NY 12054. Starts by the Delaware Avenue entrance. 2. Pine Hollow Arboretum, Slingerlands NY, Magnolia Trail 3. Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy- Normans West Preserve—on Delaware Ave across the street from the Delaware Ave Plaza. The preserve is also accessible by CDTA Route 18! Our Library of Things includes fun items. Anyone with a library card from a UHLS library can borrow these. Local food: We are near the "Four Corners" in Delmar, where there are options including several pizza places and a couple great coffee shops - even wine bars and a brewery!

Castleton Public Library StoryWalk™ location: Schodack Island State Park, 1 Schodack Island Way Schodack Landing, NY 12156 StoryWalk™ website: Schodack Island State Park, StoryWalk™hours: Dawn to Dusk Library website: Castleton Public Library Library unique features: Our building was originally built as a school in 1866 and once had a bell tower on top! Classes were held here through the mid-1920s. We're just a half-mile away from Schodack Island State Park. Local food: Find drinks and snacks at The Store, a convenience store located at 1 S. Main Street. For a sit-down meal, Cherrybrook Cafe (30 S. Main Street) offers burgers, sandwiches, and pizza. The Hill (133 Scott Avenue) offers pasta and entrees. If you're here on Fridays from 4:30-7:30 p.m. (June through September), check out the Castleton Farmers and Artisan Market, located at the intersection of Main Street and Scott Avenue. Colonie Town Library StoryWalk™ location: Wm. K. Sanford (Colonie) Town Library, 629 Albany Shaker Road StoryWalk™hours: Dawn till dusk, April - October Library website: www.colonielibrary.org Library unique features: Adjacent to the Tale on the Trail is an enclosed playspace for families to enjoy, and around the bend we have a pond with a fountain that sometimes hosts ducks and geese. Out front, you will find our peaceful Reading Garden where you can sit and rest under a pergola, or watch butterflies in our Pollinator Garden! Inside the library, our children's room has an additional playspace with a puppet theater, Lego and train tables, dollhouse, and more! We are located near the beautiful Crossings Park as well. Local food: While Wolf Road is full of food choices, our local favorites are Scoups Homemade Ice Cream and Vintage Pizza.

East Greenbush Community Library StoryWalk™ location: 10 Community Way, East Greenbush NY 12061. It begins near the flagpole at the library's front entrance. StoryWalk™ hours: Always open. Library website: East Greenbush Community Library Local Food: We recommend Srisiam Thai Restaurant, Salsa Latina, and Zachary's Pastry Shoppe.

Grafton Community Library StoryWalk™ location: Grafton State Park, Beaver LodgeTrail. Park in the main parking lot at Grafton State Park and go to the boat docks, located on the right/southern side of the beach. The beginning of the story will be located on the grassy hill right after the small walking bridge. StoryWalk™ hours: 8 am to 8:30 pm Library website: Grafton Community Library Library unique features: The serenity of Grafton's beautiful mountain location makes us unique. To add to the serenity, several hundred feet behind the library is the Grafton Center Cemetery! Visitors can explore Grafton's history, especially colorful during the Anti-Rent War, through our local history collection. We're on the way to the pretty , which is only a half mile from our door. Also, the Peace Pagoda is a lovely local attraction. Local food: Grafton General Store is just a stone's throw from our Library with great grill food, pizza and frozen goodies.

Guilderland Public Library StoryWalk™ location: Keenholts Park, 6363 Frenchs Mill Rd, Altamont, NY 12009. StoryWalk™ hours: 8am till dusk Library website: Guilderland Public Library Library unique features: We have a life-sized cow! Greufus the Cow, once a local store-top cultural icon, is now a resident of our lobby. Our Library of Things offers everything from GoPro cameras, WiFi Hotspots, Power Banks, and Amazon "Alexa" Echo Dots, to the more practical: items that let you explore "cutting the cord" with your cable company, folding tables, cake pans, EZ-Pass, even fishing licenses! We have a marvelous outdoor garden, ideal for three-season outdoor reading and a great backdrop for winter-time scenes. Local food: Just nearby there are several great eateries: Marisa's Place for pizza, Sage Bistro for quiet, classy dining, and -- a staff favorite -- Nirvana Indian Restaurant. And don't forget Starbucks!

Menands Public Library StoryWalk™ location: Sage Estate Trails. Trail entrance is located between two houses on Park Drive, across from Mountain View Rd. StoryWalk is located on the purple trail. StoryWalk™ hours: Dawn to Dusk Library website: Menands Public Library Library unique features: Our building is about 125 years old, and was first a carriage house (a fancy name for horse barn), then a church and finally a library. This odd history has left its mark on the building architecture, making it a favorite of the village. We are just down the street from Ganser-Smith Memorial Park, if you fancy having a picnic before coming to the library! Local Food: We love The Tuscan Oven for pizza or Il Faro for great Italian food. You can also check out the Capital District Regional Market for some fresh produce and local goodies!

Today we're in a building that was once a school. We have a wonderful dvd collection. Local food: Jack's - best hamburgers in the Capital District The Poestenkill Library StoryWalk™ location: Poestenkill Community Forest, 200 Legenbauer Road, Averill Park NY 12018 StoryWalk™ website (if applicable): https://www.rensselaerplateau.org/poestenkillcommunityforest StoryWalk™ hours: Daily 6am-6pm on Dorothy's Trail, a fully accessible, recently updated trail for everyone. Library website: Poestenkill Library Library unique features: Our comfortable, inviting spaces in our relaxing little library! In the winter of 1855-56, future President James Garfield preached at the Church of Christ Disciples, a quaint little building located on what is now the library parking lot. We have a photo of that building and you can see the library in the background. When the parking lot was being built, the foundation of that building was unearthed. The bricks from the foundation now border our gardens and some were sent to Garfield's museum in Ohio. We loan cake pans! Local food: There is a small market across the street from the library. They make wonderful subs, and have great salads and cookies. You can purchase a snack and eat it on the library porch!

RCS Community Library StoryWalk™ locations: 1. Mosher Park, Village of Ravena. Begin on Park Drive going up the hill towards the pavilions. 2. Long View Park, 1886 River Road, West Coxsackie. Begin in front of the barn and follow the signs. Keep an eye out for bald eagles! StoryWalk™ hours: Dawn till dusk Library website: RCS Community Library Library unique features: Our library was built in the 1950s as a roller rink! We have a large model of the Half Moon, the ship in which Henry Hudson charted the river that now bears his name. Local food: Trackside pizza is across the railroad tracks from the Library. The Twist at Jericho Drive-In serves soft serve and hard ice cream.

Rensselaer Public Library StoryWalk™ location: Rensselaer Riverfront Park 5th Ave, Rensselaer, NY 12144 Start near the gazebo. (42.642394, -73.745055) StoryWalk™ hours: All hours Library website: Rensselaer Public Library Library unique features: We are next to the Amtrak station. From our library, you can see a few vintage train cars on display in the parking lot across the street. We were the Bath-on-Hudson Library in 1898, before the city of Rensselaer was incorporated. We have a giant Braille Bible, and a 3D printer to use by appointment. Local food: We love Stewart's ice cream, just up the street from us! We get our pizza from Cugino's, now on Broadway. Rensselaerville Library StoryWalk™ location: Hamlet of Rensselaerville Town Park. 1424 County Route 351 Rensselaerville NY. The StoryWalk™ begins at the southeast corner of the park. StoryWalk™ website: Rensselaerville Library Youth Services StoryWalk™ hours: Dawn till dusk Library website: Rensselaerville Library Library unique features: The original library was organized in Rensselaerville in 1798. Look for the Federal Library Historic marker hanging next to our front door! Before being converted to a Reading Room in 1896, the main library building was a boot shop! Our beautiful backyard overlooks Ten Mile Creek where you can enjoy a quiet moment listening to nature sounds. Just up the road, there's an old restored Grist Mill and the E.N. Huyck Preserve which has miles of trails for a post-library visit hike! Myosotis Lake is a feature of the Huyck Preserve. If you'd like to fish, we loan fishing kits (and books on fishing, too)! Local food: The Shell Inn on SR 85 is a beautifully updated vintage Upstate roadhouse featuring a pub menu and fish fry on Friday nights! There are no gas stations in the hamlet of Rensselaerville, but you can fill up just down the road on SR 85.

Sand Lake Town Library StoryWalk™ location: Butler Park, 107 Gettle Road, Averill Park. Our StoryWalk™ is located by the playground at the western end of Butler Park (end nearest the Averill Park High School). Library website: Sand Lake Town Library StoryWalk™ hours: Dawn till Dusk Library unique features: The library has prints by both Grandma and Will Moses, plus other artwork from local artists. There are displays of photos and ephemera by the Sand Lake Historical Society. The Town Historian, Sand Lake Historical Society, and the Rensselaer Plateau Alliance all have offices or collections under our roof. You can check out Sand Lake's new hiking trail on Eastern Union Turnpike while you're in the area or visit the growing number of trails on the Rensselaer Plateau! Local food: We have some great restaurants in our area. Try the ribs & homemade chips at the Towne Tavern (Rtes 43 & 66); on Rte. 43 in Averill Park The Lakeview has a wide range of choices and La Perla offers a nice wood-fired pizza. For a quick sandwich, snack or drink, visit the Sunoco across the street from the AP High School or Paula’sCountry Kitchen also on Rte. 43 in Averill Park. Also, the famous Kay's Pizza on Burden Lake is only a few minutes drive from the library. For ice cream, try Hoffay's Harvest House at 489 Sheer Rd, or in downtown West Sand Lake there are Stewarts and Udderly Ice Cream. We also have a great new coffee place, Gipfel's on Rte. 43 also across from the AP High School. Stephentown Memorial Library StoryWalk™ locations: 1. Elroy Face Athletic Field, across the street from the Library on the left side of the field StoryWalk™ hours: Dawn till Dusk Library website: Stephentown Memorial Library Library unique features: Our library was created at a meeting of the local "War Council" in 1946. The library was formed to honor the local men and women who had served in the armed forces in the two world wars. The names of the 154 men and women who served in WWI and WWII to whom the library is dedicated are listed on plaques in the library's vestibule. We host an ongoing seed exchange! Local food: Norte Cantina Azul is open and absolutely wonderful!!

Troy Public Library StoryWalk™ location: Prospect Park Troy, NY. Find it in the far right corner of the park as you enter the main gate. The parking area to the right of the playground is close to the start. Inside, our upper level has floors made of glass. We also have a dumbwaiter to move books up and down. Our library has an original Tiffany window! Ask at the checkout desk and staff will turn on the light so that you can enjoy its beauty. In the Youth Services Room, you'll find a painting of the . Local food: Troy has a lot of great food! Here are some favorites for a quick snack or meal downtown : The Dutch Udder Craft Ice Cream, De Fazio's Pizzeria and Burrito Burrito on Broadway.

Valley Falls Free Library StoryWalk™ location: Starts at the library and loops around the village of Valley Falls, ending back at the library. 42 State Street, Valley Falls, NY 12185 Library website: Valley Falls Free Library StoryWalk™ hours: Dawn till dusk. Library unique features: A four volume set of "The History of Woman's Suffrage" with a lengthy inscription by one of its authors - Susan B. Anthony! Our library owes its existence particularly to the efforts of members of the Political Equality Club of Valley Falls, a group dedicated to the woman suffrage movement. Local food: Stop at Chrissy's Cravings in next-door Schaghticoke for some good food and soft ice cream! Voorheesville Public Library StoryWalk™ location: Wallace Park, 148 Swift Rd. Voorheesville, NY 12186. Located in the wooded area walking loop by the playground, which is located to the right of the entrance of the park. StoryWalk™ hours: 7am till sunset Library website: Voorheesville Public Library Library unique features: An original Van Rensselaer lease from 1791, signed by Stephen Van Rensselaer III (founder of RPI).A booksale in a shed! We have an ongoing book sale in two sheds, run by our Friends of the Library. The sheds are usually open on Tuesdays. Call us to verify hours if you're interested in shopping while you visit!The library is located in a country setting explored by many bikers and hikers. We're at the end of a rail trail and have both a garden and a bike fixit. Local food: Check out Indian Ladder Farms just a short drive from the library. They have great lunches, original ciders and cider donuts.

Westerlo Public Library StoryWalk™ location: Westerlo Town Park, 950 Co Rd 401, Westerlo, NY 12193 StoryWalk™ website: Westerlo Town Parks StoryWalk™ hours: Early morning until 10 p.m. Library website: Westerlo Public Library Library unique features: We are one of the newest libraries in UHLS (est. 1986), but part of our building dates to the late 1700s. A NYS Historic Marker out front proclaims "Grant & Eadie, early storekeepers made potash" on the site in 1798. The building operated as a general store from the early 1800s through 1982. Our checkout desk is located in the exact same spot where the store's checkout counter was. Take in the art exhibit featuring Hilltown artists in our new Hannay Community Room, dedicated May 2018. Local food: P & L Deli is across the street. They make pizza, to-order sandwiches, and have snacks and soft drinks. Silver Creek Deli & Pizza has made-to-order sandwiches, pizza, snacks and soft drinks.
