Popis Stanovnika Otoka Hvara Iz 1673. Godine Nevenka Bezić-Božanić POPIS STANOVNIKA OTOKA HVARA IZ 1673. Tako se u HVARU spominju sljedeće obitelji: ALFIERI Luka 6,2 ANGELINI Gabrijel 6, Jelena 4, ANTIGO Ivan 3; BALETTA, ka merlengo 3, BARBIRIĆ Jerolim 4, Kata 2, BARBIS Glorija 2, Nikola 4, BARISić Frane 5, Nikola 4, BENEDETTI Marieta 2, BERISLAVIĆ Ivan 3, BERTO Nikola 9, BERTUZZI Domina 6, Lukrecija 2, BERVALDI (Berualdo) Antun 12, Marin 6, Ni kola 7, BIANCHIN Marin 7, Nikola 8, BILOBARKOVIĆ Antun 4, BlONDI Margari ta 5, BIRETIĆ (Beritić ?)

  • Anthropometric Measurements of Hvar Islanders and Changes in Secular Trend of Height – Evidence from the Village of Gdinj
Coll. Antropol. 42 (2018) 3: ???–??? Original scientific paper Anthropometric Measurements of Hvar Islanders and Changes in Secular Trend of Height – Evidence From the Village of Gdinj Natalija Novokmet1, Dubravka Havaš Auguštin1, Jelena Šarac1, Ana Perinić Lewis1, Saša Missoni1,2, Pavao Rudan1,3 1Institute for Anthropological Research, Zagreb, Croatia 2J. J. Strossmayer University, School of Medicine, Osijek, Croatia 3Center of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Zagreb, Croatia ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to compare the data on height of Hvar islanders collected from two transversal studies (1978/1979 and during the 1994). The first field research covered a total of 935 inhabitants of the island (484 males and 451 females) aged between 20 and 72 years, from five villages of the western part (Dol, Vrbanj, Svirče, Vrisnik, Pitve) and four villages of the eastern part of the island of Hvar (Poljica, Zastražišće, Gdinj, Bogomolje). The second field research was carried out in 1994 that enrolled total of 189 participants (82 males and 107 females) from the villages Dol, Vrbanj, Svirče, Zastražišće, Gdinj and Bogomolje. Comparison of data on Hvar adults since these two periods demonstrated a secular increase in average height for females and males in all investigated villages except in the village of Gdinj. Negative secular trend in village of Gdinj was observed for both female and male inhabitants. Possible explanation for this trend could be the specific migratory patterns and traditional practice of endogamy. Key words: height, secular change, Gdinj, Island of Hvar Introduction pecially suitable for bioanthropological studies due to its geographic configuration and the fact that the island is The populations of the Eastern Adriatic islands are inhabited by groups differing in origin, morphological determined by a range of distinct and turbulent migra- characteristics, way of life and some socio-cultural char- tory and historical events, specific demographic histories acteristics.

‘Nothing without Neighbours’ 153 Journal of Mediterranean Studies, 2014 ISSN: 1016-3476 Vol. 23, No. 2: 153–168 ‘NOTHING WITHOUT NEIGHBOURS’ – INTERLOCAL RELATIONS AND CAMPANILISTIC NARRATIVES ON TWO CROATIAN ISLANDS ANA PERINIC´ LEWIS & NEVENA Sˇ KRBIC´ ALEMPIJEVIC´ Institute for Anthroplogical Research Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences University of Zagreb, Croatia On the Croatian islands of Hvar and Bracˇ, there is a diversified system of rivalry and animosity among island communities, defined by the term campanilism. It is based on stereotypes about inhabitants of neighbouring island localities or neighbouring islands and on the production of mocking collective nicknames. Anecdotes, jokes, proverbs and similar oral forms are used as a means of confirming characteristics attributed to certain communities. Nowadays their performance is mainly connected to sporting events, celebrations of patron saints’ days and school children’s disputes. Previously they were considered to be a form of exclusively intra-island knowledge. Islanders mostly found them insulting. However, some communities have decided to turn these stereotypes into brands, highlighting them in representations of local identities and in tourist promotion. In this paper we analyze the way in which certain stereotypes focusing on islanders’ flaws or virtues are used in contemporary identity strategies and the construction of local uniqueness. Introduction ‘This is a story about a land of a thousand islands, her magical nature and rich heritage, her great men whose great deeds have forever etched the name of Croatia in large letters on the map of the world. This is a story about a land whose beauties have been celebrated since ancient times.’ (Orlic´ 2006: 3) With these words, tourism policy makers present Croatia in a catalogue entitled Croatia: The Mediterranean as it once was.

  • Da Ti Rečem Povijest!: Usmene Predaje O Doseljenju I Povijesnim Događajima Na Otoku Hvaru
Zbornik za narodni život i običaje 56(2012) A. Perinić Lewis: Da ti rečem povijest: Usmene predaje o doseljenju i povijesnim događajima na otoku Hvaru, str. 73-94 Ana Perinić Lewis DA TI REČEM POVIJEST!: USMENE PREDAJE O DOSELJENJU I POVIJESNIM DOGAĐAJIMA NA OTOKU HVARU Ana Perinić Lewis UDK 821.163.42-1::398(497.5-210.7Hvar) Institut za antropologiju Izvorni znanstveni rad Gajeva 32, Zagreb Primljeno: 30.9.2011.
