198 Draft Ewes A good entry of Ewes saw a solid trade for the well fleshed Ewes. Top call went to Mr & Mrs J Coleman of Tregole, Poundstock, with his best to £101 for a Texel Ewe. A Brewer of Boscastle saw his top, a pen of Suffolk x Ewes with big frames and fleshed well to £82. J & P Turner of Tintagel saw their Texel x Ewes to £81, also at this price was W A Wills of Trewen, . Mules topped at £67, for middle fleshed Ewes from N Hawkey of .

289 Fat Lambs Heavy lambs with plenty of finish were at a premium with top going to R J Franklin of Trebarwith, with a pen of Charolais x to £86. W R Pethick ran in close with his Suffolk x Lambs to £85. S Reddaway of North Tawton saw his best Continental x Lamb to £84. Mr A Legassick of Tavistock saw his front end of long stretchy lamb to £83.50 and £81. T E Fenn of , saw his front end to £83.

266 Store Lambs A good number around with the strong lambs selling well. Top on the day went to forward lambs from Mr Bettison of Bodmin, with his best to £67. Richard Jenkin of Launceston saw his best to £63 for Texel x Lambs, who also saw £62 for two more pens. J Hill of Bodmin saw his top to £57.50. More Store Lambs are needed to fulfil buyer’s needs.

WINTER HOUSING

Winter housing for up to 150 cattle, in 80’ x 120’ modern cattle shed at North Petherwin. Silage and labour available. Cattle “bed and breakfast” arrangement considered for £1/head/day.

A quality selection of Cattle at Hallworthy, saw a strong trade for well grown and fleshed Cattle. Top call on the day went to D & V Kemp of , with a strong named sire Aberdeen Angus Steer to £1100, not far behind was R & G Deacon of Landolph, , with a quality Charolais x Steer selling away to £1025. C P Button LTD saw their best of a very tidy run to £940, for a single British Blue x Steer. Back in again was the Deacon Family with slightly younger 17-18 month Charolais x Steers to £910. Mr ID & SS Backway of St Eval saw the lead pair of their Limousin x Suckler Cattle to £895 for a pair of Black showy Limousin x. SI & A Barkwell of Milton Abbott saw their 10 month pair of Simmental x Steers to £875, for a well grown and put together pair of Steers, with their pair of classy Heifers to £720. Top honours in the Heifer section went to Mr Kemp of Padstow with a single Aberdeen Angus Heifer with great outlook, to a top of £895. Messrs J, BR & BP Facey of St Wenn, Bodmin ran in next with a pen of four super black Limousin Heifers, which sold to a credible £860. Messrs Backway saw their strongest pen of Simmental x to £825. MJC Hambly of Liskeard saw the front end of his Hereford x Heifers away to £785. Not to many Friesians around this week, but what we saw were strong. C P Button LTD saw their front pen of six Swedish Red x Steers to £755, with another pen of six away at £700. Messrs Kinzere LTD of Boscastle saw their North Devon x OTM away at 115ppkilo and a British Shorthorn to 107ppkilo. Out of parlour Cows to 77ppkilo.
