The 39.1-45.5 113.50 258 106.50 247.7 well fleshed Hoggs saw several pens 45.6-52 120 261 114.50 242.2 over 255p to a top of 261p for a pen of 52+ 125 231 119.30 217.3 46kgs £120, from Colin Baker Overall 125 261 111.50 246.8 Nanswhyden, St Columb, followed by Mervin Gimblett of Churchtown who realised 258p for a pen of 44kgs £113.50. Several pens of heavies over £118 to a top of £125 from C A Statton of Badgall. 365 STORE LAMBS Similar entry met a sharper trade and a lot more could have been sold, pen after pen realised £90 plus to a top on the day £108 sold by Colin Baker of Nanswhyden, St Columb who also sold other pens at £106 and £100. 70 IN LAMB EWES A large crowd of prospective buyer were here present which resulted in a strong trade for the In Lamb Ewes, top being £148 for a pen of March lambing 6 & FM Mule Ewes from Tom Highmoor of St Wenn who also sold two other pens at £145. STORE CATTLE AUCTIONEER - RICHARD DENNIS STORE CATTLE Just shy of 200 Cattle at Hallworthy today with another flying trade. Top spot today going to Nigel Taylor & Joe Trudgeon of Bodmin with a cracking pair of Charolais x Steers to £1205 at 17 months. Next a single Charolias x Steer to at £1140 from P Jones of Bratton Clovelly a huge Steer that will make a great weight. David Key of Wadebridge ran in next with a super run of Limousin and Shorthorn x Cattle, his top a single Limousin Steer at 29 months to £1190, and a second to £1170. J Crago of Par saw his pen of five blocky Limousin x Steers away to a creditable £1055. The Barrett’s of St Tudy saw his top of a super run of Cattle to £1035 for a pair of Limousin x Steers. Heifers Not to many Heifers around but quality shone through with David Key topping out this section at £1160 for a 26 month Limousin x Heifer, and £1155 for a British Shorthorn x and another the same way bred to £1080. The Langton of Mount saw their Limousin x Heifer to £990 and £920. Friesians A strong run of Cattle from the Angwin Family of Bodmin saw their 17 month Steers to a top of £925 and a second pen to £920. P Jones saw his Norweign Red Steer at 20 months to £850. Younger Steers from M Button of St Tudy topped at £770 for a pen of 8 15 month old Steers, and a pen of Swedish Red Steers to £755. Cows A topping run of Cows saw a strong trade with a top of 129ppkilo x2, for Dairy Cows from the Angwin Family, and others at 127ppkilo. A Hereford Cow to a top of 122ppkilo from the Brewer Family of Boscastle. Cows and Calves A few outwintered Cows and Calves from W S Harris & Son of St Tudy saw a Limousin x Cow with 3 month old Calf to £1090, and several in and around £1000- £1050. Stirks – Auctioneer Tim Kivell A flying start for the first Stirk sale here at Hallworthy with 30 Stirks forward, topping at £500 for both Mark Button and W S Harris and Son with Limousin Steers both at 6-7 months. Mark Button had a lovely run of Dairy bred Limousins from 5-7 months, with other Steers hit £490 x4 and £450 x2, and his Heifers realising £445 x6 and £400 x4. Steve and Lucy Carpenter ran in next with their Limousin Steer at 6 months which reached £490 and his younger Heifers at £345. More Stirks wanted for next week with 30 on the book already.     DIRECTIONS TO WOOLGARDEN FROM THE A30 WESTBOUND (M5/Exeter) About 2 miles beyond Launceston, take the A395 towards Camelford and Bude. After 10 minutes you come to Hallworthy, turn left here, opposite the garage and just before the Wilsey Down pub: - Continue straight on for 2 miles. The postcode centre (PL15 8PT) is near a T-junction with a triangular patch of grass in the middle. Continue round to the left at this point: - Continue for about a quarter mile down a small dip and up again. You will the come to a cream- coloured house and bungalow on the right. The track to Woolgarden is immediately after this on the same side, drive a short distance down the track and you have arrived! DIRECTIONS TO WOOLGARDEN FROM CORNWALL AND PLYMOUTH From Bodmin, Mid and West Cornwall: Follow the A30 towards Launceston. Exit the A30 at Five Lanes, as you descend from Bodmin Moor, then follow the directions below. From Plymouth & SE Cornwall: Follow the A38 to Saltash then the A388 through Callington, then soon afterwards fork left onto the B2357, signposted Bodmin. (Or from Liskeard direction, take the B3254 towards Launceston, then turn left onto the B3257 at Congdons Shop.) Then at Plusha join the A30 towards Bodmin and then come off again the first exit, Five Lanes, then follow the directions below.
