The scholarships listed are a sampling of scholarships students may apply for. Scholarship criteria may change from year to year. The criterion for each scholarship is different. Students may not qualify for every scholarship. It is the student’s responsibility to listen to the daily announcements for scholarship updates, and to visit the “College Resource Center” frequently, so they don’t miss out on any application. Please be reminded that the eligibility requirements vary per scholarship and might be changed annually 4 JANUARY DEADLINES American Institute of Architects Foundation High school seniors, junior college or technical school students transferring to a professional program in architecture. Contact: www.archfoundation.org American Institute of Architects High school senior, technical school/community college students entering or attending a program leading to a bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture are eligible to be nominated. Contact: www.archfoundation.org Discover Card Tribute Award Scholarship Applicant must be a high school junior, have a cumulative grade point average for the 9th and 10th only, of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Contact: www.discoverfinancial.com/community/scholarship.shtml Elks National Foundation Seniors who are US citizens, perform community service, displays leadership qualities and participate in extracurricular activities. Applications should be sent to the local chapter. Contact: College Resource Center (Mrs. Gordineer) Gates Millennium Scholars Citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States. Seniors who have attained a GPA of 3.3 or have earned a GED. Applicants must be low-income minority students, and demonstrate community involvement. Although there are no restrictions on majors, nominators are asked to consider academic performance in math and sciences. Students also have to meet the federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria. Contact: www.gmsp.org Simon Youth Foundation Seniors who live in communities with Simon Malls and plan to attend an accredited college or university. Applicants should be involved in community activities. Contact: www.syf.org or College Resource Center (Mrs. Gordineer) 5 Ron Brown Scholarship The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card. Contact: www.ronbrown.org Tom Joyner Foundation (Full Ride Scholarship) Current high school seniors who are U.S. citizens, with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Applicants must have applied and be accepted into a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). Applicants must have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities. Contact: www.blackamericaweb.com Toyota Community Scholars Seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or better and actively involved in a service organization or project that has a positive impact on the school and/or community. Applicants should plan to pursue an undergraduate degree at an accredited four year college or university. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to apply. Contact: www.toyota.com Tuskegee Airmen Inc. Academic Scholarship Graduating high school senior accepted by participating colleges and universities. Must be in financial need and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Contact: www.tuskegeeairmen.org 6 FEBRUARY DEADLINES Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Eta Zeta (Lambda Chapter) African/Latino American males, accepted to and enrolled in accredited four year colleges, demonstrate leadership and commitment to their community. Seniors with a GPA of 2.5 Contact: College Resource Center (Mrs. Gordineer) APS (American Physical Society) Minority Scholarship Program Any African-American, Hispanic American, or Native American U.S. citizen or permanent resident who is majoring or planning to major in physics, and who is a high school senior, college freshman, or sophomore is eligible to apply for the scholarship. Contact: www.aps.org Burger King Scholarship Seniors with a GPA of 2.5 or more, work part time, involved in community services. Apply online October through February (specific dates will be given). Applicants should demonstrate financial need and plan to enroll in an accredited two/or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school by the fall of the application year. Contact: www.bk.com/scholars Jandon Scholarship Must have a family income no greater than specified on the application and receive public assistance to apply. Seniors with a GPA of 2.5 Contact: College Resource Center (Mrs. Gordineer) National Co-op Scholarship Seniors with a grade point average of 3.5 or better. Applicants should complete the application form and a typed one-page essay describing why they have chosen to pursue a college cooperative education program. Contact: www.co-op.edu Peekskill Lions Club Scholarship Seniors who are planning to attend a college/university or vocational/technical school. A resume of extracurricular activities must be submitted and a school transcript. Seniors with a GPA of 2.5 Contact: College Resource Center (Mrs. Gordineer) 7 Retired Teacher Association of North Westchester Graduating seniors who plan to pursue a career in Education. Seniors with a GPA of 2.5 Contact: College Resource Center (Mrs. Gordineer) Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship Currently enrolled high school seniors who are eligible to attend a two or four year college. Applicants must be legal U.S. residents, be less than 21 years of age. Applicants may choose one of four scholarships that will meet the specified requirements. Contact: www.rmhc.org Westchester Recreation & Parks Society Inc. (WRAPS) Westchester Recreation and Parks Society are offering a scholarship for seniors who are planning to enter a college or university as a matriculated student. Applicants must be residents of Westchester County, New York and must register at the Institution of their choice in the Recreation and/ or Parks curriculum. Contact: Dept. of Parks, Recreation and Conservation or College Resource Center Westchester/Putnam Chapter, New York State Society of Professional Engineers, Inc. Scholarship Graduating high school seniors from Westchester & Putnam Counties who will be continuing their education in the field of Engineering. Contact: College Resource Center (Mrs. Gordineer) The Hispanic/Latino Scholarship Students must be of either gender and be of Hispanic heritage. Students must write an essay of 500 words or more. Seniors with a GPA of 2.5 Contact: www.hispanicheritage.org Phi Delta Kappa International Must show an interest in pursuing a career within the field of education. Students will be asked to submit an application and have a 3.0 or above GPA. Contact: email [email protected] Samuel Fletcher Tapman Scholarship High school seniors, who will be registered as an undergraduate in the Fall, and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student chapter and is also a national member in good standing at the time of the award. Contact: www.asce.org 8 Society of Women Engineers Program The minimum grade point average is 3.5/4.0 for freshman applicants. Open to women majoring in engineering. Contact: www.swe.org National Science Teachers Association High school students who create and build an original working device powered by one or more Duracell batteries. Applicants must be U.S. citizen or legal resident. Contact: www.nsta.org Foundation for Exceptional Children - Stanley E Jackson Scholarship Disabled and/or members of an ethnic minority, evidence of financial need, anticipating enrollment for the first time in a full-time post secondary education program or training.
