Adam Hawley, Jackiem Joyner to Play at 2020 Norfolk Waterfront Jazz Festival
Media Contact: Jordan Lett Email: [email protected] Phone: 757-441-2345 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Adam Hawley, Jackiem Joyner to Play at 2020 Norfolk Waterfront Jazz Festival Date: Friday, January 31, 2020 Norfolk, VA – Guitarist Adam Hawley and saxophonist Jackiem Joyner will perform together at the 2020 Norfolk Waterfront Jazz Festival on Saturday, August 22, 2020. The duo’s performance on Saturday at 5:30pm will open up day two of the festival. Adam Hawley, a native of Portland, Oregon, is a gifted guitarist and prolific sideman. For over a decade, Hawley worked alongside a bevy of pop, jazz, and R&B stars before launching his solo career in 2016 with his breakthrough debut album, Just the Beginning. The release cemented Hawley’s presence on the smooth jazz scene, as Hawley won a pair of Debut Artist of the Year awards in 2016 and registered three No. 1 hits, including "35th St.," which spent five weeks on top of the Billboard Smooth Jazz Chart. With his groove-oriented style, Hawley has performed with a wide variety of the biggest names in music, including Natalie Cole, Jennifer Lopez, Dave Koz, Rick Braun, and many more. Hawley is signed with Kalimba Music, the label founded by Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire. Jackiem Joyner, born in Norfolk in 1980, is a chart- topping saxophonist, as well as music producer and author. Joyner was introduced to the music world by his father, who was a bassist, and his music career began to blossom in the early 2000s when he held the position of music director for World Harvest Outreach Ministries in Newport News. -
