Hegdewar School, Bambolim, Goa New Delhi, 02nd March, 2021: Power Finance Corporation Ltd (PFC), the leading NBFC in the power sector, has extended its financial support for the construction of stilt plus two-storied School Building at Dr K.B. Hegdewar School premises, in Bambolim, Goa as part of its CSR activities. PFC has provided CSR fund of Rs 3 crores for the construction of the school, which was inaugurated by Dr. Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa along with Shri Ravinder Singh Dhillon, CMD, PFC. The building block comprises of classrooms, laboratories, a multi-purpose hall, faculty rooms and toilets for children. The beneficiaries of the project are the school children of the local populace. Significant number of children studying in this school is from the economically weaker sections of society and majority is from SC/ST/OBC category. The present CSR project of constructing a school building with all necessary facilities for the benefit of school children in Dr K.B. Hegdewar School is also aimed to cater to the needs of educational infra development in the State of Goa. -1- THE GOA STAFF SELECTION COMMISSION (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2021 (Bill No. 8 of 2021) A BILL further to amend the Goa Staff Selection Commission Act, 2019 (Goa Act 11 of 2019) BE it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of Goa in the Seventy second Year of the Republic of India as follows: – 1. Short title and commencement.– (1) This Act may be called the Goa Staff Selection Commission (Amendment) Act, 2021. (2) It shall come into force at once. 2. Amendment of section 7.– In section 7 of the Goa Staff Selection Commission Act, 2019 (Goa Act 11 of 2019), after sub-section (7), the following sub-section shall be inserted, namely: – “(8) Notwithstanding anything contained in this section, the Government Departments may, after obtaining prior approval from the Department of Personnel of the Government, conduct examinations for selecting candidates for appointment to sub-ordinate services/posts for a period of two years from the date of commencement of the Goa Staff Selection Commission (Amendment) Act, 2021.”. -2- STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS The Government has established Goa Staff Selection Commission and framed the Goa Staff Selection Commission Rules, 2020. However, the work of finalizing the regulations is under process. The Government had banned recruitment in Government Departments since 2016 and the Government had deferred recruitment up to November, 2020, which has led to large scale vacancies in Government Departments. Therefore, there is a need to fill up the vacant posts on priority to strengthen the administrative machinery. Considering the time required for finalizing the regulations, putting in place the required infrastructure for Staff Selection Commission and the requirement of sending the staff associated with the Commission for training in conducting mass scale recruitment, use of latest technology for transparent examination process among other similar initiatives, the recruitment through Staff Selection Commission will require some time. -

This visit came as a fulfillment of the assurance of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to Russian President, Vladimir Putin during their meeting in Bishkek earlier this year on the sidelines of the SCO Summit, to explore opportunities for enhancing trade and investment from India to the Far East region of Russia. About 200 Russian companies, Investment Agencies and Funds took part from the Russian side. Companies interacted separately with identified partners in an expanded B2B format and established contacts for further deliberations. The companies belonged to a wide cross-section of priority sectors, including minerals and rare earth, energy, forestry and timber, healthcare, agriculture and food processing, ceramics, tourism and infrastructure. The event was the result of collaboration between Invest India and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry on the Indian side, and the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic under the leadership of Alexander Kozlov and the Far East Investment and Export Promotion Agency on the Russian side. On August 12, 2019, the companies showcased in different sessions the prospects of mutual collaboration in the promising sectors through presentations.
