  • MEDIA CLIPS Columbus Blue Jackets Vs
MEDIA CLIPS Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Ottawa Senators February 24, 2020 Columbus Blue Jackets Blue Jackets hang tough again, get a point — and another loss By Brian Hedger – The Columbus Dispatch – February 22, 2020 NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Blue Jackets will not change their style because of their injury glut, which now includes Oliver Bjorkstrand and Seth Jones out for the remainder of the regular season. John Tortorella, their tightly wound coach, made that abundantly clear in a pregame news conference Saturday night at Bridgestone Arena. "You’re asking me the same questions every (expletive) day," Tortorella said, when asked if his most inexperienced lineup to date might force a strategic change or two. "I have explained that already. I’ll say it one last time about this here. "We have changed our concentration right at the beginning of the year … so, are we changing? No. We are playing the way we have played for three months, and really, most of the year." No such guarantee, however, exists for results. And the Blue Jackets really needed some better results going into a game against the Nashville Predators, looking to end a seven-game losing streak (0-3-4) despite having yet another rookie, Calvin Thurkauf, make his NHL debut and icing a lineup with six of 18 skaters having American Hockey League experience this season. They didn’t get what the result they wanted, though, losing an eighth straight game with a 4-3 shootout loss decided by Rocco Grimaldi’s backhand shot in the bottom of the eighth round. It didn’t look good after the first 20 minutes, which the Predators dominated in almost all facets.

  • Wildcats Extend Congratulations Wildcats Product Makes NHL Debut Tonight
NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wildcats Extend Congratulations Wildcats Product Makes NHL Debut Tonight 15/11/2018 BERWICK, NOVA SCOTIA – The Valley Wildcats, of the Maritime Hockey League, are proud to extend congratulations to former player Drake Batherson, who will make his NHL debut tonight as a member of the Ottawa Senators. The 20-year-old forward spent five seasons with the Wildcats organization – two in bantam, two in midget and one season with the junior A club. He’s projected to play on the Senators first line this evening as Ottawa hosts the Detroit Red Wings (8 p.m. TSN). Batherson says he has fond memories of his time with the Wildcats organization. “Growing up I played for the Wildcats for five years and they gave me the opportunity to develop my game with some great players and some great coaches along the way,” said the New Minas resident. “Overall, when I look back, I just remember so many great experiences and a lot of fun over the years playing with my friends.” Wildcats G.M. Nick Greenough, who coached Batherson, is thrilled for his protégé. “It’s a great day when a local kid, who came through all the Wildcats programs, gets to further his career and achieve every player’s dream of making the NHL,” said Greenough. “We’re as proud as we can be. It’s a great moment for Drake, our organization and the Annapolis Valley in general.” The Wildcats host the Amherst Ramblers Friday night at 7 p.m. Ticket to all Wildcats games are available at: 902-698-9913, [email protected] or can be purchased at the box office prior to game time.

  • AHL Prospect Preview 2020-21 by Jon Litterine & Steve Kournianos of Thedraftanalyst.Com
AHL Prospect Preview 2020-21 By Jon Litterine & Steve Kournianos of TheDraftAnalyst.com • Complete team-by-team coverage for all 31 AHL affiliates • 197 individual prospect profiles with personal data, transactions, draft position, and summaries • Updates on recent AHL graduates currently on NHL rosters © 2021 by TheDraftAnalyst.com. No portion of this report may be reprinted or reproduced without the express written consent of the publisher San Diego Gulls (Anaheim Ducks) Max Comtois (LW, 6’2, 215 pounds, acquired: 2nd Rd {50th overall} 2017): Comtois is the most NHL-ready prospect in the Anaheim system, having performed well a season ago with both the Ducks (11 points in 29 games) and in San Diego (24 points in 31 games). Comtois is a big body with an underrated offensive skill set. I had him pegged as more of a bottom-six type in his draft year, but his skating has improved, and his hockey sense is strong. Comtois has appeared in all 13 of Anaheim’s games through Sunday (5 goals, 1 assist) with an average of 14:09 per match. It’s safe to say Comtois is done with the AHL. Jack Kopacka (LW, 6’3, 192 pounds, acquired: 4th Rd {93rd overall} 2016): Kopacka is no longer part of the organization as he was recently traded to San Jose for older minor-league defenseman Trevor Carrick. Kopacka once stood out as a potential late bloomer due to the fact he played a depth role on some loaded Sault Ste. Marie teams back in his OHL days, but it just hasn’t clicked for him at the professional level.
