LAST GAME: Nov. 17, 6-4 win vs Pittsburgh: The Penguins opened the night's scoring via Letang's fifth goal of the campaign but Ottawa rebounded by scoring five consecutive times en route to a 6-4 win over Pittsburgh at Canadian Tire Centre. The Penguins cut the deficit to 5-3 at 5:34 of the final frame but could not get any closer as the Senators ultimately emerged with a third victory over their last four contests and a regulation win over Pittsburgh for the first time since 1/12/17. Duchene and Stone each scored twice for the home side. Stone's team-leading ninth goal of the season was its first shorthanded marker of the campaign. Duchene later earned the primary assist on Ceci's (eventual) game-winning goal for the 500th point of his NHL career. Tkachuk notched the other goal for Ottawa while Aston-Reese, Cullen and Hornqvist tallied single markers for the Penguins. Anderson made 31 saves to earn the win in goal for the Senators. DeSmith turned aside 12 of 15 shots in relief of Murray (seven saves on 10 shots) in taking the loss for the visitors. COACH BOUCHER: A native of Notre-Dame-du-Lac, Que., Guy Boucher made his NHL head coaching debut in a 5-3 Tampa Bay home win over Atlanta on 10/9/10. He ultimately served two-plus seasons at the Lightning helm, guiding Tampa Bay to within one victory of the Stanley Cup Final in his first season (he duplicated the feat in his first season with Ottawa in 2016-17). Hired as the 12th head coach in Senators franchise history by general manager Pierre Dorion on 5/8/16, Boucher has 178 NHL head coaching victories to his credit, including 81 with Ottawa which sees him rank fifth (Martin - 341, MacLean - 114, Murray - 107, Clouston - 95, Cameron - 70) in franchise history.

FOUR ALTERNATES FOR NOW: With the departure of Erik Karlsson in an off-season trade to San Jose, the Senators will employ four alternate captains in 2018-19. Veteran forwards Matt Duchene and Mark Stone will serve as permanent alternates while defenceman Mark Borowiecki and forward Zack Smith will rotate at home and while on the road.

THE CAT CAME BACK: Panthers forward Mike Hoffman makes his return to Ottawa in the midst of a career-best 15-game point streak when the Senators host Florida in the first of two such meetings this evening. A native of Kitchener, Ont., Hoffman, who was drafted by the Senators with the team's first fifth-round pick (130th overall) in 2009, ranks 13th among all-time Senators in goals (107) and 16th in points (230). With an assist on Nov. 15 at CBJ, Hoffman broke Pavel Bure's franchise record 13-game point streak set in 1999-00 (March 10-April 5, 2000). The 28-year old native of Kitchener, Ontario, has scored seven goals over his last 12 games, seven assists over his last six games and ranks first on the club in shots (59), goals (8) and points (18), while tied for first in power-play goals (3).

CAT DADDY Evgenii Dadonov has registered 15 points (7-8-15) over his last 14 games. Dadonov registered a 12-game point streak from Oct. 16- Nov. 13, the third-longest in franchise history, making him only the third Panther in franchise history (Mike Hoffman, Pavel Bure) to have registered points in 12 consecutive games. The 29-year old native of Chelyabinsk, Russia, is tied for the Panthers team lead in points (8-10-18). His 13 points and six goals posted at even-strength leads the Panthers. Among his teammates to have registered at least 20 shots, Dadonov's 18.2 shooting percentage leads the team.

POWER UP Over their last seven games, the Panthers own a 37.0% (10-26) power play success rate, ranking them third in the NHL since Nov. 2. Over the seven-game span, Keith Yandle has registered a team-leading six power-play points, while Aaron Ekblad has tallied on the man advantage three times. IRON YANDS Keith Yandle enters the 2018-19 season as the NHL's active iron man leader, having played in 732 consecutive NHL regular season games. His current games played streak ranks seventh in NHL history and is six games away from passing Jay Bouwmeester (737) for sole possession of the sixth-longest. Yandle currently leads all Panthers defensemen in points (4-12-16) and leads the Cats in assists and average TOI per game (23:34). He has notched points in nine of his last 13 games (3-6-9). In his first season with the club, Boughner, 47, led Florida to a 44-30-8, 96-point campaign. Under Boughner, the Panthers set franchise records for single-season home wins (27), consecutive home wins (8) and owned a 25-8-2 record following the NHL All-Star break.
