PRESIDENT’S RAMBLE

be at Myrtleford. It is a perennial favourite for members of our club to attend.
Thank you to everyone who assisted and indeed attended our big birthday bash weekend. Despite being a touch on the warm side ! things went well on the runs to visit the car collections and I thought Saturday night was an enjoyable time. Sunday was a little cooler which resulted in a well attended picnic lunch and birthday cake ( thank you Robyn Absolon ) in Jugiong, with interesting cars, good camaraderie and a bit of fun.
On the 28th March the AHMF week long rally (Australian Historic Motoring Federation ) and based in Albury, will be attended by Daina and Ken Trethewey and Lin and I. Are there any others attending ?

So there is plenty on the calendar in the next weeks. !

Speaking of the excellent commemorative calendars, the club has plenty for sale at $10. Contact one of the Committee members if you would like to purchase any.
I would particularly like to thank Keith and Sandra Berryman, Paul and Judy Braybrooks and Graham and Robyn Snape for their efforts and hospitality in opening their car collections to us all.
Yours with Grace, Space and Pace

Mal
They say life begins at forty, so I wonder what is next ?

P S. Just a small extra note this time. Being the Jaguar fan that I am, I had my bike ready for

“Simpy’s Run around the lake”. A pity this was

cancelled because I would have blown them into the weeds. !
Well, what is next for our club is to host the

South West Get Together this year on

Saturday 28th March at the Cootamundra Airport. This yearly get together with over 100 people anticipated to attend, will be especially interesting with the addition of the Vintage Sports Car Club of Australia running timed

sprints on the Airport Runway during the day.

Invitations for this Get Together have been sent to all clubs, about 28 in total, and now, please, we do need an indication of numbers of people intending to come. This will assist Can Assist who are catering for the lunch on the day. Contact John Collins or Malcolm Chaplin. Thank you. A recent phone call from Shannon’s Insurance has resulted in a $400 sponsorship for the event. This will be used to provide lucky entry prizes.

In return, we will mention Shannon’s in our club

magazine , which Hon Sec , John Collins, has in hand, and Shannons will also be present in a marquee on the day.

In the meantime the Kalimna Rally, organised by Wodonga Historic Car Club, will be held the first weekend in March. This year the rally will

Last Year the SW Get-Together was hosted by Goulburn Historic & Classic Car Club. N.B. : Any club can offer to host the event next year.

The last time C.A.M.C. hosted the event – we held it in conjunction with the Harden Kite Festival. That gave us a big Get-Together of many clubs, entertained by the display of flying kites. This year we will be entertained by the sports cars which come to the SPRINT competition. --an event, not to be missed.

Monday 17 February, 2020 : HOLDEN brand-name . . . Finished. ABC Radio was playing songs about Holdens, Next the Wagga Radio Station was inundated by listeners lamenting and reminiscing. I recognised a “ John from Hillston”, (Hey! He’s Member No. 280). And a Kim from Stockinbingal?

The Veteran, Vintage & Classic Motorcycle Club of A.C.T. will hold their big Annual Rally - - in March. (7th.. See John Simp. for details. All motorcycles are welcome, from Veterans through to modern.

Ph. 02 66522099, 0427 400158, [email protected] Greetings All, Although our JKL numbers were very small at our second HSRCA race meeting of the year at Eastern Creek on June 25/26 those of us who made the effort were rewarded with some great racing and camaraderie. In Group K we had the return of David St Julian in the lovely Lagonda Rapier Special complete with its smell of methanol/Castrol R but who was plagued with niggling problems and eventually had to park it when he thought the engine was trying to tell him it wanted to drop a valve. In L Racing we had Percy Hunter in the faithful blown TC Special, Max Lane in his newly imported Lola FJ with offset driveline from its Ford 105E motor, John Medley in his Nota BMC FJ and myself in the Nota Major having its first run at Eastern Creek for some 15 years. In L Sports we had Peter Lubrano in his TC Special and John Murn in the Decca Major. In invited M we had John Evans from Victoria in the B Series powered Elfin Streamliner and Henry Walker in the familiar and revolutionary Nalla Holden. We were joined by two Na A30’s and 8 Sa cars including four very quick Austin Healey 3000’s two of which were to claim the first two places in the two scratch races. Saturday’s 8 lapper produced a bit of a surprise when the Nota Major proved to be the quickest of the non Sa cars coming home a strong third behind the Healeys of Peter Jackson and Laurie Sellers, John Medley was forced to retire with a split header tank which he was able to rectify in time for Sunday and Max Lane was the best of the other L cars in sixth.
