Durga and Bhadrakali are the major deities of this temple. It is situated in the heart of the Trivandrum city. Annual festival is conducted to increase the vigour of the deity. OF PEOPLE (Local / National / International) PARTICIPATED EVENTS/PROGRAMS DESCRIPTION (How festival is celebrated) The annual festival starts in the Malayalam month of Medam (April/May). The shrine is traditionally decorated with plantain, coconut leaves, flowers, leaves, traditional lamps and lights. There are special poojas and offerings during the festival Cultural Programs and period. Traditional performing arts and music and dance are folk arts staged during this period. Numerous cultural programs and Spiritual discourses temple arts are performed on all days of the festival. There Seminars are lots of cultural events and religious discourses. On the Percussion Music final day there is Pongala, a ritual where thousands of Musical Concerts women offer a porridge made of rice, sweet brown molasses, Drama coconut gratings, nuts and raisins. Rice, coconut and jaggery Ganamela along with round earthen pots are brought by women Dance programmes devotees for cooking. The Chief Priest lights the main hearth Pongala from the divine fire inside the sanctum sanctorum. This fire is Thalapoli exchanged from one over to another. And also there is thalappoli, which is a unique ritual in Kerala. In this ritual, women and young girls carry thalam filled with rice, flowers and a lighted lamp in their hands. It is a symbol of prosperity. .
