December 11, 2018 Runnymede and – Easier Access Project Updates Public Open House 1 Status of Easier Access Program • 45 stations are now accessible: - St Patrick Station is the latest station to become accessible in December, 2018. • Stations under construction in 2018: - Dupont, Chester, Royal York, Wellesley, Yorkdale and Wilson. •  elevator construction will begin in late 2018 and is scheduled to be accessible by the end of 2020. • Keele Station elevator construction will begin in 2019 (start date is TBD) and is scheduled to be accessible by the end of 2021. • All stations are scheduled to be made accessible by 2025.

December 11, 2018 Runnymede and Keele Station – Easier Access Project Updates Public Open House 3 Advisory Committee on Accessible Transit (ACAT) ACAT Overview •  citizens who advise the TTC on difficulties faced by people with disabilities and seniors • Recommends the elimination of barriers to accessible public transit in the City of Toronto • ACAT consists of 15 volunteer committee members who are appointed by the TTC Board ACAT’s Role • Represents the needs and concerns of persons with disabilities and seniors who use public transit services provided by the TTC. • Advises the TTC on the provision of accessible public transit. • Advises the TTC on necessary policy issues for services that pertain to the interests of persons with disabilities and seniors. • Supports TTC staff in consulting, educating, and advising persons with disabilities, seniors and the community at large. • Subcommittees – Design Review, Service Planning, Communications, and Wheel-Trans Operations • Advises TTC on priority and plans for Easier Access projects

December 11, 2018 Runnymede and Keele Station – Easier Access Project Updates Public Open House 8 Construction Details and Transit Information • Installation of hoarding and exit pathways will be created in the laneway. • The western portion of laneway will be closed for E3 construction for at least one year to complete the following: ◦ Shoring ◦ Excavation ◦ Construction of the elevator structure/shaft ◦ Backfill ◦ Restoration • In Fall, 2019 the bus roadway will be closed for E2 construction (closed for approximately 3 months followed by a partial closure for 6 months). For 3 months, TTC riders will board buses on-street or at a neighbouring station. A detailed transit service plan will be provided closer to the time of the closure. Signage will be in place. • At a later stage, the masonry wall will be upgraded and the laneway will be restored (laneway reductions are required for these works).

Efforts will be made to keep disruption associated with noise and dust to a minimum. • Most work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with some extensions outside of these hours in order to complete the work as quickly as possible. • Protective construction hoarding will be in place and vehicles/ equipment will access these work zones from Kennedy Avenue and Runnymede Road. • Station bike parking will be relocated and maintained.

December 11, 2018 Runnymede and Keele Station – Easier Access Project Updates Public Open House 10 Runnymede Station – Public Art • Runnymede Station will receive public art in accordance with the Public Art Policy. • An open call and pre-qualification was prepared. • A jury selected the concept to be installed. • Elicser Elliot was chosen to install his art concept entitled, “Anonymous Somebody”. • On June 5, 2017 TTC presented the public art concept for this and other stations at the Toronto Public Library at Yonge and Bloor. • Art installed prior to project completion.

December 11, 2018 Runnymede and Keele Station – Easier Access Project Updates Public Open House 12 Elicser Elliot: Anonymous Somebody • Anonymous Somebody captures the snippets of our bustling Bloor West Village lives while standing still. • The artworks aims to communicate the story of individual spirit as fresh and relevant to the metabolism of the neighbourhood. • The images work as an anchor to a thought or memory for the person viewing it – to commemorate, celebrate, provoke, and heal. • Not unlike Runnymede, a house that became a community, Anonymous Somebody welcomes all passengers to reframe the characters’ experience as they pass or wait, fluidly transitioning from past lives to present, making the artwork their own.

These vertical elements contrast with the horizontal ‘bridge’ of the Subway Platform. The multi-colour additions punctuate and layer the existing beige structure to celebrate Toronto’s inclusiveness, vibrancy and multicultural energy.
