Missouri Press News, November — December 2018 www.mopress.com 3 Three join Photojournalism HoF

On Oct. 19, three photojournalists were inducted into the Missouri Photojour- nalism Hall of Fame. The ceremony was again held at the Reynolds Journalism Institute on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus. This year’s inductees included David Rees, a former newspaper photographer and retired University of Missouri professor; Thelma Blumberg, an independent photographer who worked extensively in St. Louis before her death in 2012; and Dave Marner, currently the editor of the Gasconade County Republican. Above, pictured from left, are Rees; Blumberg’s niece, Jody Darby; and Marner. Above right, Bill Miller, publisher of the Washington Missourian and one of the founders of the Photojournalism Hall of Fame, has always been an admirer of J.B. Forbes’ photography work for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, but during this year’s induction, he also became an admirer of Forbes’ beard. Also pictured is Cliff Schiappa. Below right, while the inductees to the Photojournalism Hall of Fame draw attendees every year, it is the traditional bacon knots, transported from Washington via Bill Miller, that keep people around after the ceremony. Nate Brown with the Reynolds Journalism Institute could not help but admire the large pan of bacon knots, and he cannot be blamed.
