Technical Partner – ICLEI- South Asia Project report for Redevelopment of Sukhadia Circle Park in Udaipur Preface Bernard van Leer Foundation (BvLF) believes that giving all young children a good start in life is both the right thing to do and the best way to build healthy, prosperous and creative societies.” Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC) realizing the need to transform city’s urban built environment into more child responsive and child friendly, signed a MoU for initiating Urban95 program in Udaipur. ICLEI- Local Government for Sustainability, South Asia (ICLEI SA) - the technical partner of BvLF for Urban95 project in Udaipur engaged Mr. Adarsha Kapoor (Urban Designer) to provide inputs to design interventions for Infant, Toddler and Caregivers (ITC) in Udaipur city. This report focuses on the proposal finalised for the ‘Sukhadia Circle’ site and may be read, along with the “Template of ITC Integration in Udaipur- Intervention Guidelines Report”. This report is a documentation of work underway and is based on site assessment studies, data collected and observations from site, information provided by UMC, BvLF and from stakeholder consultations conducted by ICLEI South Asia team. ICLEI SA is thankful to BvLF for supporting this initiative and to UMC, their representatives and the other local city based stakeholders for providing valuable inputs and feedbacks in preparation of this report. The entire study is based on secondarysources of data. The growth and development of Udaipur city have been discussed in terms of expansion of the city limits from walled city to the present municipal boundary over the two periods of times i.e. pre-independence and post-independence period. However, the trends land use of the city has been examined for four periods of times from 1971 to 2011 and pattern of land use of the city has been analyzed for 2011. The study reveals that there is significant rise in land use in the categories of residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, entertainment, public and semi-public, circulation, the government reserved, agriculture, forest, water bodies, other open areas. Key words: Growth, Development, Land use, Spatio-Temporal, Growth Introduction Land is the most significant of all the natural resources and the human-use of land resources gives rise to land use.
