The University of North Dakota is one of 11 colleges and universities comprising the North Dakota University System. The AVPPS reports directly to the vice president for finance and operations and joins other UND Division of Finance & Operations leadership to implement financial and operational priorities in support of shared campus goals. Further, the AVPPS has a commitment to people and building trust among faculty, staff, and students as a community partner. It is the AVPPS’s responsibility to maintain a Department of Public Safety that is viewed as a community partner through acts of responsiveness, empathy, respect, helping, educating, and regulating in a professional objective fashion. The safety and well-being of UND students, faculty, staff, and visitors, as well as the physical campus, are of foremost concern. The AVPPS and the Department of Public Safety work in partnership with the campus community, the broader Grand Forks community, as well as state and federal agencies to maintain a secure and accessible campus. In addition, it is the AVPPS who must utilize the spirit of innovation to deliver public safety services while maintaining a keen financial sense to manage the public safety mission.
