Mycosphere 6(1), 19–42, Doi 10.5943/mycosphere/6/1/4 Abstract A study of diversity of coprophilous species of Conocybe was carried out in Punjab state of India during the years 2007 to 2011. This research paper represents 22 collections belonging to 16 Conocybe species growing on five diverse dung types. The species include Conocybe albipes, C. apala, C. brachypodii, C. crispa, C. fuscimarginata, C. lenticulospora, C. leucopus, C. magnicapitata, C. microrrhiza var. coprophila var. nov., C. moseri, C. rickenii, C. subpubescens, C. subxerophytica var. subxerophytica, C. subxerophytica var. brunnea, C. uralensis and C. velutipes. For all these taxa, dung types on which they were found growing are mentioned and their distinctive characters are described and compared with similar taxa along with a key for their identification. The taxonomy of ten taxa is discussed along with the drawings of morphological and anatomical features. Conocybe microrrhiza var. coprophila is proposed as a new variety. They are propelled off from their basidia at maturity when Buller’s drop develops at high humidity at the hilar spore appendix and fuses with a liquid film formed on the adaxial side of the spore. Spores are catapulted into the free air space between hymenia and fall then out of the mushroom’s cap by gravity. Here we show for 66 different species that ballistospores from mushrooms can be attracted against gravity to electrostatic charged plastic surfaces. Charges on basidiospores can influence this effect. We used this feature to selectively collect basidiospores in sterile plastic Petri-dish lids from mushrooms which were positioned upside-down onto wet paper tissues for spore release into the air. Bulks of 104 to >107 spores were obtained overnight in the plastic lids above the reversed fruiting bodies, between 104 and 106 spores already after 2–4 h incubation. In plating tests on agar medium, we rarely observed in the harvested spore solutions contamina- tions by other fungi (mostly none to up to in 10% of samples in different test series) and infrequently by bacteria (in between 0 and 22% of samples of test series) which could mostly be suppressed by bactericides. We thus show that it is possible to obtain clean basidiospore samples from wild mushrooms. -

While preparing a monographical study of the European taxa of the genus Conocybe, the first author has studied nearly all type specimens worldwide. Subsequently, it is attempted to bring all resulting insights into a worldwide infra- generic concept of the genus. -

The descriptions are accompanied by black and white photographs of fresh basidiocarps and microscopic elements. The new taxa are compared with closely related taxa. Key words — Basidiomycota, biodiversity, mycobiota, taxonomy Introduction The mycobiota of Croatia is poorly known due to the small number of mycologists who have researched the region. Some areas have never been mycologically explored. The first two authors of this paper made a survey of all species of the order Agaricales sensu lato recorded for Croatia until 2000 (Mešić & Tkalčec 2002, 2003; Tkalčec & Mešić 2002, 2003a,b). Only 11 species from family Bolbitiaceae were recorded (5 species of Agrocybe, 2 species of Bolbitius, 3 species of Conocybe, and 1 species of Pholiotina). In 1999, more intensive research started through the “Recording and Mapping of Croatian Fungi” project of Croatian Mycological Society. Thereafter, more than 40 species of Bolbitiaceae new to Croatian mycobiota have been found, as well as several taxa new to science. The first new species, Conocybe thermophila Hauskn. et al., is already published (Hausknecht et al. 2007). In the present paper we describe Conocybe caeruleobasis and Pholiotina mairei var. -

During the study of the mycoflora of Gallura, NE Sardinia, started in 2000, the second author, M. C. has paid special attention to the fungi growing in urban or suburban zones or in areas subjected to strong anthropogenic influence. To this aim some urban areas of Olbia city and its outskirts have been explored and, particularly, the city park "Fausto Noce", abounding in fungi and composed by many flower-beds well kept and regularly sprinkled, with an arboreous covering of Phoenix, Populus and Sci/i.x. In this place many interesting species, some of which new to science, have been found (CONTU 1998, 2003, 2004, 2007; CONTU & BON 2000; CONTU & ORTEGA 2002; CONTU & HAUSKNECHT 2007). -

Current Research in Environmental & Applied Mycology 4(1), 58–78, Doi 10.5943/cream/4/1/5 Abstract A total of 13 species belonging to 10 genera in 9 families collected from Pune and Western Ghats of Mahabaleshwar and Mulshi have been described. Among them, Amanita flavofloccosa is being repoted for the first time from Western Ghats. The remaining species are being reported for the first time from Maharashtra state. Further, 14 species already reported from Maharashtra were also collected from different regions in the present study. In addition, a checklist of gilled mushrooms of Maharashtra is provided on the basis of published reports. A total of 178 species in 68 genera (including 21 new species and two new genera Chlorolepiota and Singerina) belonging to 23 families and 5 orders (Agaricales, Boletales, Cantharellales, Polyporales and Russulales) have been described from Maharashtra. Twenty six new species and 7 new varieties that are contravening particular Articles of the Code are excluded. Current Research in Environmental & Applied Mycology 5(4), 322–348, Doi 10.5943/cream/5/4/3 Abstract This checklist consists of 135 species belonging in 27 genera and 10 families of the Order Agaricales, Class Agaricomycetes, and Phylum Basidiomycota. The families, genera and species have been arranged alphabetically. The status and taxonomic placement of each taxon included in the list has been updated as per the information available on the Index Fungorum/MycoBank. At the family level, Psathyrellaceae has the highest number of coprophilous species (46) reported from India, followed by Agaricaceae and Bolbitiaceae (29 spp. each) and Strophariaceae (20 spp.). The ten most represented coprophilous genera are Conocybe (23 spp.), Panaeolus (19 spp.), Coprinopsis (14 spp.), Psilocybe (13 spp.), Agaricus (9 spp.), Lepiota and Psathyrella (6 spp. each), Coprinellus and Coprinus (5 spp. each) and Bolbitius (4 spp.). The geographical distribution of the species covers 13 States (Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Orissa, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal) and 2 Union Territories (Chandigarh, New Delhi) of India. The relevant information is based on the survey of dung localities in Punjab state during the period 2007- 2011 and original information contained in 97 research papers. -
