During macrozoobenthos sampling in the rivers of Serbia in 2003 parasitoid, and during the period 2011−2012, pupae of Silo pallipes Fabricius, 1781 Serbia, were recorded which were parasitized by an ichneumonid wasp Agrioty- distribution, pus armatus Curtis, 1832, this being the first record of it for the Balkan ecological Peninsula. A total of 217 A. armatus specimens were collected at 29 local- parameters ities situated along 16 watercourses of Serbia. All four parasitoid stages (egg, larva, pupa and resting adult) were recorded. The identity of the par- asitoid was confirmed using standard molecular methods. This study also focuses on the ecology of the parasitoid and its host. The widespread dis- tribution of A. armatus in Europe suggests the presence of this species in other Balkan countries, but this has not yet been confirmed due to a lack of surveys and/or the constantly increasing pollution of freshwaters. The article provides an annotated list of 147 ichneumonid species from 20 subfamilies resulted from the faunistic studies in the North of the European part of Russia, mainly on the territories of the Republic of Karelia and the Murmansk Province. Of these, 20 species are reported for the fauna of Russia for the first time, 22 species are new in the fauna of the European part of Russia; the rest species, with the exception of those specifically mentioned, are new findings previously unknown for the regions. В статье приводится аннотированный список 147 видов наездников-ихневмонид из 20 подсемейств по результатам фаунистических исследований на севере европейской части России, в основном на территории Республики Карелия и Мурманской области. Из них 20 видов впервые при- водятся для фауны России, 22 вида – новые для фауны европейской части России; остальные виды, за исключением указанных особо, являются новыми находками, ранее неизвестными для регионов. Life history evolution in the parasitoid Hymenoptera Ruth Elizabeth Traynor This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy University of York Department of Biology 2004 Abstract This thesis addresses life history evolution of the parasitoid Hymenoptera. It aims to identify assumptions that should be incorporated into parasitoid life history theory and the predictions that theory should aim to make. Both two species and multi-species comparative studies as well as up-to-date phylogenetic information are employed to investigate these issues. Anecdotal observations suggest that solitary parasitoids have narrower host ranges than closely related gregarious species. There are several possible reasons for this; for example gregarious species may be able to exploit larger bodied hosts because they can fully consume the host, which may be essential for successful pupation to occur. Comparative laboratory experiments between two closely related species of Aphaereta, one of which is solitary and the other gregarious, show no difference in the extent of host range. This study does, however, suggest that differences in the realized niche that each species occupies in the field may result from life history differences between the species. These differences may themselves have arisen due to solitary or gregarious development. The first multi-species study in the thesis uses a data set, compiled for the parasitic Hymenoptera by Blackburn (1990), to address factors that may influence body size and clutch size. This study builds on previous analyses of the data (see Blackburn 1990, 1991a/b, Mayhew & Blackburn 1999) through the use of up-to-date phylogenetic information. Evidence is found that the host stage attacked by a parasitoid is associated with both body and clutch size, due to the amount of resources available for the developing parasitoids. -

ESCALA* INTRODUCCIÓN La subfamilia Agriotypinae incluye a un conjunto de Ichneumonidae que parasitan pupas y prepupas de tricópteros en los ríos. Debido a algunas características morfológicas en adultos y larvas que los diferenciaban del resto de icneumónidos, algunos autores han considerado que este grupo sería una Familia dentro de Ichneumonoidea (HE & CHEN, 1991; CHAO, 1992), pero recientes estudios (SHARKEY & WAHL, 1992; BENNETT, 2001) han determinado que deben incluirse dentro de Ichneumonidae. En esta subfamilia se incluye un solo género, Agriotypus Curtis 1832, y 16 especies conocidas (BENNETT, 2001) de las cuales sólo una especie (Agriotypus armatus Curtis, 1832) se encuentra en Europa. Esta especie fue citada por primera vez en la Península Ibérica recientemente (ANENTO & SELFA, 1998) a partir de material recolectado en Pina de Ebro (Zaragoza) en mayo de 1992 y que había sido depositado en el Zoologische Statssammlung de München. MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS Durante el análisis de unas muestras de macroinvertebrados bentónicos tomadas en el río Erro (Navarra) se encontraron tres estuches de tricópteros de la familia Goeridae con un sifón respiratorio (Fig. 1), lo que indicaba la presencia de un ejemplar de Agriotypus * Universidad de Navarra. Cased caddis (Trichoptera) larvae, such as Agapetus fuscipes and Silo nigricornis, show consistently depleted carbon stable isotope ratios, suggesting a reliance on methane-derived carbon rather than the organic matter fixed by plants either in the stream or imported from the land. -
